so 4 fills so far and no restriction at all. (7cc / 11cc band). I am starting to wonder if this band will ever be right?

Some people take more than that. Each person is different. Keep getting fills.

Everyone is so different. I didn't need a fill for over a year and I had restriction, but others that I know needed 4 or 6 or 7 fills before they had good restriction. Each of us is so different and that is ok. Once I started getting fills a fill would work for 3 or 4 or 6 months and then I would feel like I needed another one. There are so many things that go into what you personally need that it really isn't fair to compare yourself with anyone else. Take a look at this article How much Fluid do I need in my band? and let me know if it answers some of your questions. These articles are helpful as I will have my first fill on this Thursday. I hope I can keep up with some weightloss even before I get the feeling if restriction. It is so frustrating to only lose 12 pounds and I am 4 weeks post op...aT 1000 CALORIES A DAY and walking at least 3 to 4 miles.

I know, i'm so discouraged, I've had 2 fills, no restriction, going to the gym 3-4 times a week, can't do any walking or any excerise on feet due to planters flaciitis , eating much more healthier, smaller portions, more hungry and have gained 2lbs , fill nurse will not listen. I get so sad. :(

Don't get discouraged... I was feeling like you after my 2nd fill because I could eat what I wanted and gained 4 pounds :o

But, now I've had 4 fills and up to 7.1cc in a 10cc band and now losing weight. I was thinking that I had spent all that money (self-pay) and had all that pain for nothing.

It will happen and you will get where you need to be. Don't worry about the nurse. Ask your doctor if someone else can do the fill because the person isn't helping. If they are only putting a certain amount in your band, they should be explaining why and talking you through it.

Remember, you're the patient and it's your body. No one else should have control over it or make you feel like you don't know what you're talking about.

Take care,

Julia

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
