I'm 6 months post op.

the last month i have been vomiting more often and occassionally it was really bad. this past firday i was vimiting very violently i felt like i was gonna pop the band. it hurt to breathe, i was lightheaded and i wa in a lot of pain, (just a side note my 7 year old had been up vomiting thursday night so i dunno if i caught something from her)

then very siddenly it was gone and i have been feeling fine ever since, except that when i eat bananas i have the "rising bubbles" sensation. but no pain, nausea or burping as i had been having friday or to a lesser extent the weeks before.

ciould this be a slip? if it is would the symptoms have passed alone? if it wasn't, could that violent painful vomiting have caused a slip? im scared silly now.

If you are feeling fine now, I tend to think you caught something from your daughter. If you had a slip, you would still have spasms of pain and feel uncomfortable (at least I'm pretty sure they are the warning signs.) It could also be that you got comfortable with the band and have been kind of testing the limits and eating more than perhaps you should (I say this because I did it!) If you're feeling good now, I think you are okay now. Just be careful and revisit all the rules and maybe you'll stop the vomiting after meals.

Good luck!

I agree with onmyway2thin. If you are feeling better than it is probably not a slip but getting in touch with the surgeon or a nurse who works there is better than guessing. I had my surgery only 2 months ago and had severe vomiting only after eating a piece of chicken too quickly that I didn't chew correctly. I have my second fill a week from today.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
