I just discovered this Forum and was so happy I did. I was banded Jan. 7, 2011. I'm 6 weeks post op today and I had my first gain. I made some bad food choices and also didn't exercise like I should have. Its hard...it's like being on a regular diet because I feel no restriction at all. Did anyone else feel this way? How did you get through it?

HI THERE! I WAS BANDED JAN. 17 THIS YEAR. I HAVE HAD MY FIRST "FILL" OF ONLY 1/2 CC LAST WK. I DIDN'T THINK I HAD ANY RESTRICTION EITHER COZ I FELT HUNGRY ALL THE TIME AND FELT LIKE I COULD EAT ANYTHING. THE scale HAS NOT BEEN MOVING FOR ME LATELY EITHER. WELL THIS AM I HAD MY FIRST "SLIMING" EPISODE AND IT WAS NOT PLEASANT. EVERYTHING CAME BACK UP - SO I GUESS I DO HAVE MORE RESTRICTION. BUT ANYWAYS, PRIOR TO THIS - I DECIDED TO DRINK THE CHOC Protein shakes FOR Breakfast AND lunch AND JUST HAVE A NICE dinner (SMALL PROPOTION OF COURSE). I THOUGHT IT WOULD JUMP START THE WT LOSS AGAIN. SO I AM GONNA STICK TO THAT AGAIN FOR A WHILE AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. MAYBE YOU COULD TRY THAT AS WELL AND SEE IF IT WORKS FOR YOU. GOOD LUCK! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
