GOAL WEIGHT AND NOT GETTING TO IT!!!!

Recommended Posts

Has anyone got close to their goal weight maybe 10 or 15lbs away and are happy where they are at now???? I feel content being 14lbs away from my goal, everyone says I look great actually too thin but I think I look great. I probably could lose the rest but I am not going to kill myself over the last few lbs as long as they are off by summer!!!! Anyone else feel the same way?

I'm about 25 lbs from my first goal and recently have decided to ease up just a little on myself. I'm still trying to lose weight, but have made mainly a mental adjustment of not pushing so hard. My eating and exercise hasn't changed. So I think it's not unusual, but I'm a sample of one. LOL

If you are happy, then go with it!

Great job!

I ended up going 10 pounds below my initial goal weight. I am thrilled with my results- especially after a Tummy Tuck and boob job. Now all I need is arms and face lol. I was lucky in a way. I started having trouble with the band- not being able to keep much down. The last 5-10 pounds came off very quickly. They are usually very stubborn from what I've heard. Sounds like you have done just great! If your happy and healthy I wouldn't sweat those last few pounds.

I'm not near mine yet, but I made it pretty high (I probably need another 20-30 after that). I can't remember ever being that size, so I'm going to revaluate when I get there, see what size I wear and how I feel. I wanna fit comfortably in normal people clothes (like I size 10 or 12), then I will be happy. I don't have much desire to be super skinny or anything.

Nope, too much of a perfectionist. I set my goal really low (64kg or a BMI of 20) and I actually looked better at about 67kg (I'm about 61, now with a BMI of 19 and REALLY skinny). But I just couldnt let it go, I had to see (I actually lost quite a lot extra due to illness) and now I'm here, I'd rather the feeling of control at maintaining this weight than actually looking better. I think I'm a little nuts.

I had originally set my goal about 5 lbs less than where it is now. My PCP would like me to be about 10 lbs less. But we talked about and he said if I am happy, he can live with it..gee thanks!

But I feel good at this weight and don't want to work as hard as I would have to to get down to that weight. I've also heard the "you're too skinny" line from people. That I just ignore as them not being used to seeing me at a healthy weight. I am at the high end of normal BMI, so there is no way I am too thin. Since I have been at this weight for a while now, I don't hear that any more. They seem to be used to seeing me now.

My response to the too skinny comment is that I am at a healthy weight and my doctor is happy with it.

i set my goal to the highest normal weight on the BMI chart. i'm 3 pounds away and i think i want to lose more. everyone thinks i'm good where i'm at but i want to be in the middle of the normal range so i have some pounds to play with. i've worked too hard the past 3 years to settle for anything less than being a normal weight. i went from obese to overweight.... i want to be normal!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
