Hello, my name is Jennifer and I just got a date for surgery today! I'll be Lapbanding it up on March 23rd! I had a date before, back in 2007, but due to financial issues I canceled. No canceling this time!

Unfortunately, I'll be in Vegas the week before and will be on the pre-op diet, so no yummy buffets for me, lol. And, since I'll be in Vegas the week before, my husband won't be able to get more time off of work to help me in Colorado, so I'm trying to think of someone to come with me, or a way I can do this on my own (ha!).

Anyhow, I'm super excited. :)

Congrats to you... Dr. Kirshenbaum is my surgeon and I am 16 days post op. He is excellent and you can totally do this on your own if you have to... Your first day will consist of mainly sleeping it off... Being forced to get up and get your own Water is good as you will need to walk so you don't get blod clots and you will also need to walk off that gas that lingers and causes minor discomfort.

You can do this... Keep us posted.

Congrats on your date! The LapBand is the best thing I've ever done for myself!

I have helped many who have come from out of town to be banded. The biggest issue is having someone who can drive you from the surgicenter. They WILL NOT allow you to leave alone, even if it's in a taxi. You have to have another person with you when you leave.

Thank you, two.

That's good to know! But I sucked it up and changed my date by a week so that a) I don't have to pre-op diet during my vacation to Las Vegas and B) my husband can come with me. I'm so very glad I wised up about it, especially after hearing you have to leave with someone!

I'm hoping the surgery will be super easy for me. With my third c-section, I was up and walking right away and talked my doctor in discharging me within 24 hours of my surgery so I could attend my other child's preschool graduation. Here's to hoping, right?

Thank you both again for replying!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
