Blockages

Hey all

Can anyone tell me when you know you have a blockage. Is it when you start to feel that you are creating a lot of saliva? If that is the case then how long does it take if you were going to throw up?

Does it happen immediatley or does it take time , like an hour?

I have felt a little blockage but it did not feel much more than mild heart burn and it was gone after a few minutes. I just dont want to push things and accidently vomit.

I get a pain in my chest and it hurts like heck... some times it will work it's way through ( i'm guessing yours did) and sometimes it will not. I produce so much slime, and it's not saliva, it is slime, that if the blockage does not go through I will be throwing up within 5 - 10 minutes. My pouch must fill with slime than I start backing up. It does not take much to throw up when this happens. Really, no force to it at all for me. I will keep throwing up till it either comes up or goes through. I had a lot of problems with this but I made it my February goal to not get stuck... so far going pretty good. I really had to learn to eat all over again after my last fill.... makes me mad when I get something stuck cuz it is totally my own fault. My biggest problem is eating too fast... this gets me everytime. I have learned to chew pretty well, but I have to learn to SLOW DOWN! Good Luck to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
