:D :D Well I got up this morning at 5:30 and bam here it came and all day everywhere I went it went with me to the bathroom, I even had to make my daughter drive over the speed limit one time to get to the potty fast, I mean fast, and man do I feel better. Felt like I lost 5 lbs. but I did not but I am at 238. And my rings are not swelled shut to my fingers. LOL. But I have to warn you all do not take stool softeners and MOM. It makes your well B--- stay on fire. I hope you all get a kick out of my post, gotta get you to laugh sometimes. Thank you all for all the info. I did get benefiber tasteless and I am gonna try that for 2 weeks and see if this will help me.

I know these might be some weird suggestions but living a country where I can't seem to find many things like MOM, etc here are some solutions I have found sometimes work to help move things along

  • Brown rice
  • Bananas ( ie low cal banana bread I make)
  • Beans
  • yogurt ( Probiotics help)
  • flax seed ( can get at costco add to yogurt, shakes, etc)
  • coffee
  • kimchi
  • lots of Water
  • aloe juice
  • lots of exercise
  • coffee covered nuts ( from my experience)
  • Benefiber ( shipped from Canada)
  • dried mangoes
  • prunes
  • prune juice

Right now if I have any problems I try coffee with some benefiber. I also have a backup senecot but I dont use it often at all. Usually something on this list helps. You also dont want to over do it because then you might have major diarrhea problems!

Is it okay that I giggled a little? I felt your pain and had to smile because it is not fun!

I had the same problem for two weeks after surgery, I believe. No one told me that the pain medicine tends to constipate you let alone the anesthesia. When I called my doctor's office, they recommended Colace, but that didn't do a thing. I then tried the stool softener/laxative pills with no success. I was drinking Water, taking Fiber...doing everything I could, but nothing worked. And unfortunately, doctors seem to not take this problem as seriously as we suffers think they should.

I ended up using a suppository (my first EVER!) and that handled everything, thank the Lord. I had to use it another time or two, and then things were fine. If I had known what to expect, I would have taken a stool softener the night before surgery like I did the gas medicine. I am all about preventing pain when possible!

So glad you found something that worked...even if a bit too well. :P

Good luck!!!

Kelley

Stool softners do nothing for me but what has really helped me is warm prune juice! That's something I'm not use to cause I was a regular person but now I get constipated a lot! Cause we don't have the intake that we use to!

I'm still having trouble ack. Just need to eat more Fiber probably. I don't mind taking a stool softener or a laxative, but I can't do it everyday obviously

My Doc recommended MiraLAX. I'm sensitive to laxatives and usually get really bad cramps for a few days after taking them, but not with this it's very gentle.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
