Hi I have been banded for a year now and have had a problem keeping weight off. I initially lost 35 pounds but then gained 20 back problem is I work around food all day. If the economy was better I would find another job but I have been a chef for 25 years and I love what I do.

Edward, u need to stop eating while at work or only have Protein shakes while u are there. I love EAS soy Protein with 1/2 banana, ice, and skim milk! U know what u need to do I think, u just haven't stopped letting the excuses win.

I'm only 5 days post op so maybe I shouldn't have responded, but have lost 60 lbs before the band. I think once u are banded u know for sure what to do- 3 small meals, no grazing, 60-80 g of protein, 64 oz of Water, and get a fill if ur hungry.

I know when u are around food all day its hard, but to me living fat/obese is harder. Believe in urself, set one goal each week, and do it! NO EXCUSES! :)

GOOD LUCK!

You can do it! I can't imagine how hard that must be. Maybe remind yourself that you are choosing not to eat those foods, not that you "can't".

Hi Edward - I lost about 80 pounds initially and very quickly, but then gained back 50 in a very short amount of time. It really sucked and I found myself just giving up for awhile. In September I decided to get back on the wagon. The hardest part was going back to the gym, making good food choices, logging back into fitday.com, etc. But since then I've lost all the weight I had gained plus more. I'm not sure what to say about getting back into it, but I know I didn't do it until I was ready. Just try to start today with something simple (like taking a walk, or logging your calories for the day). Maybe don't try to do it all at once. Ive also started going to therapy for my binge eating disorder which has been helpful (the band did not fix my head issues with food in any way). Anyways, I'm sure when you're ready you'll get back to it (and it seems like you're moving toward being ready as you came back here to post).

It's mind over matter. I haven't been banded yet but I will be March 7th. You have to want to keep the weight off more that you want to snack. I know that eaiser said than done but you have a powerful tool on your side (the band) right now you are working against it. Maybe you should try eating before you get to work. According to a book I read about the lapband when you crave a food the craving is usally gone after the 1st 3 bites. Take 3 bites and then stop. Maybe the next time you only want 2 bites. Good Luck You!

OMG! My time is quickly approaching! I can't believe in 5 days, my life will be changed forever (for the better!). I have thought about this surgery for years, but kept telling myself I didn't need it. Now that I can view it as a tool and not a solution, I realize I do need this tool. This tool will not only help me physically, but mentally as well!

Getting close - 196 lbs as of this week.  Goal is 195.  Actually, I'm thinking of adjusting my goal.  I'd like to get down to 185 to get rid of this scraggly belly jiggle, then try to build back up to 200 with muscle instead.

I’m a complete novice on forums but I think my experience I’ve had so far following a gastric balloon insertion will be interesting to someone…
