Tomorrow will be 1-week Post-op

Recommended Posts

I feel great!

I have so much energy! Tomorrow will be the official 1 week post op date, and so far I have lost 15lbs!

The first few days after surgery, I was very depressed due to the gas pain. I didn't have shoulder pain, but I would almost do this silent burp, and all that would happen would be a sharp pain deep inside.

I have not felt hunger since the night before surgery, and this absolutely blows my mind! I already have some restriction as my surgeon leaves about 2-3ccs in the band during surgery.

Life is good! This is the best decision I have ever made!

Starting weight 379/Surgery date 358/current weight 343/Goal weight 175

Good for you Meg. I'm 3 weeks post op. I too was surprised at all the energy I had after healing despite how little I was actually taking in. It's an amazing feeling. I also felt restriction immediately but the more I healed and less swollen my stomach was the less I had. You may not have that issue. I go for my first fill next week (thursday). I hope I hit my sweet spot fairly quickly. Good luck to you on your journey!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
