I think doc missed my port on 1st fill

I had my first fill last wed. I do not feel any different, no restrictions at all. Same as before. The doc had a hard time finding my port and then I felt a strange tingling sensation down the inside of my right side. Could this be the saline and he missed the port? Has anyone else felt this sensation during a fill?

I had my 1st fill about 3 weeks ago and did not feel any different at all for about a week, then I felt a very small amount of restriction. I had another fill last Wednesday and it took until yesterday for me to feel any restriction. I have 4ccs in a 14cc band. When they access my port, I can feel the needle go into the port, it's not pain, it's more like pressure? It doesn't hurt at all, but I can feel some pressure as the saline goes into the band. I found I had restriction the hard way. I have not had any problems eating anything, so I have not been chewing very well. Last night I took a bite of my daughter's steak, didn't chew very well, and had my 1st sliming experience. It was AWFUL and painful. Good luck to you :)

What band size do you have? What was the amount of your fill?

Usually you won't feel much different after your first few fills. With my first 2 fills with my first band I felt no change. With my second band my doc filled me during surgery and I didn't know and thought i was empty because I could eat a horse 3 times a day.

You just havent reached good restriction yet. Don't worry you'll get there

I was banded in September 2010, my doc filled me durring surgery and then unfilled me 3 days out of surgery because of an upper respatory infection. When I got my 1st fill I didnt notice any restriction, then I was convinced that something was wrong with my port (mental! it's just fine!) I actually didnt notice restriction until about my 4th fill. I always have a strange tingling sensation, I believe is the cold saline moving through the tube from my port to the band. when getting a fill the dr withdraws a small amount to make sure they're in the port before injecting the saline. I also get a strange feeling in my stomach when I get a fill..... like going over a dip in a roller coaster. I hope this helps!

Thanks Kimmie! That makes sense. I feel better now. I guess I am just anxious to start my journey of losing weight. Did you still lose weight even though you had no restriction until after your 4th fill? Before the 4th fill did you stay the same weight? I am not losing any. Wasn't that a bit discouraging waiting so long for the first sign of losing? Thanks for taking the time to reply and help me.

I have a 10cc band and I didnt feel any restriction until my 3rd fill when I got up to 4.5cc so its normal.

I have a 14cc Band that the doc put 3cc's in at installation. For about 2 1/2 weeks, I had some restriction, then it disappeared. My first fill was at 5 weeks (2cc) and I had no restriction for about 3 or 4 days, then it kicked-in and lasted for about 2 weeks. My 2nd fill (last week) was 2cc, but doc had to take back 1/2cc because I couldn't swallow a gulp of Water. I have been tight since the fill, though I have noticed some easing today. I'm scheduled to see doc again in 3 weeks, but I'm guessing that I'm pretty close to my "sweet spot".

I too get that tingling and it is the cold saline going in. My doc actually removes all the saline before filling. That way he can tell if there has been a leak. I am now at 7cc

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
