How long does everyone stay full?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I am feeling a bit frustrated. I was banded on June 9, 2010 and have lost 51 lbs. I am very happy with that. I am frustrated because it doesn't seem that I can stay full longer than 2.5 hrs. I have 6.5 cc in a 10 cc band. I follow the Fiber and Protein rule. I know I'm hungry because my stomach growls so bad and so loud. I have some restriction. Any advice on how to stay fuller longer? Thanks everyone! :0)

How much Protein are you eating each meal? Aim for at least 20g a meal. I eat every 3-4 hours. I usually eat on schedule to keep my metabolism going. If I don't eat on schedule my stomach usually doesn't growl for 4 hours. I try to focus on my protein.

The length of time I stay full varies, but with a good fill, it's usually about 4 hours.

Things that can cause variation: what I ate, emotional state, amount of weight lost recently, how much Water I'm drinking, how busy I am.

When I'm going through a period when I'm eating correctly (dense Protein and a good amount of it) and it's not time yet for a fill, but I'm hungry sooner than I'd like.. I push fluids. Not easy this time of year as I don't want to drink as much because of the cold.. and I'm not fond of unsweet hot stuff .. blah, blah, blah..

Hang in there.

Some people have to eat more often. I know the general rule is 3 meals, but many bandsters have to eat a little something between. Something like a Protein Shake or cheese stick works good for me. Many days I need something like that. If I got even a tiny fill more I would be way too tight. You just have to personalize it sometimes.

When my blood sugar was still not under control, I was eating every 2.5 hours. Breakfast, lunch and dinner with a small Protein 'snack' (1 oz cheese, hard boiled egg) in between and in the evening. Now that it's controlled, I can go 4 hours before I start feeling 'normal' hunger.

It's hard to know why you're hungry without knowing what you're eating.

I also feel hunger after 2.5 hours. I usually take a Protein Shake, yogurt, cottage cheese and fruit or cheese stick if I get hungry. I only have 2 cc's right now. I go for another fill on tues, so I am hoping to see a difference.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
