February 2011 Bandsters?

Recommended Posts

Yikes! Just got a booklet from my Dr. outlining what will happen post-op. I have to do liquid diet for 4 weeks post op! I guess that is my payback for not having a preop liquid diet. So, it says Clear Liquids for 4 weeks, Purees/mushies for another 2 weeks and then after 6 weeks I can move on to normal foods. I'm getting nervous!

Hey Loves,

I think everyone is scared and the pre-surgery diet is not something I don't think anyone looks forward to! What really helped me is reading post from other bander's and trying to stay positive.............this can change your entire life/body, which I am so ready for.

Best of luck.........keep me posted:)

Hi All,

I have a surgery date of 2/11/11. I have a BMI of 35.9 with several comorbidities. I am hoping to hear soon that I have been approved. I have been medically cleared by everyone except the Pope, himself.

Is there anyone out there who is scheduled for February?

hi there, I just got my approval and date today. February 10th! I'm excited and scared crazy at the same time. I've been waiting close to 2 years for this and it seems unreal that it's finally going to happen! :-) My BMI is 40 and I'm 5'2....I want to lose about 100-110lbs total.

After a brief delay with medical problems my surgery has finally been reschduled to Feb 1st!!!!!! I went a week into my liquid diet last time then found out I had blood clots. Started my diet again yesterday (which sucks by the way) and will be on the table that morning!!!

Dear duffy777,

Wow, so sorry to hear about the blood clots, that must have been scary..............but it's better for you that they found them prior to surgery, even though it extends the liquid diet and surgery date. But the good thing is Feb. 1st is just around the corner!

Best of luck to you....let me know how you do.

That does suck!! But at least afterwards you might not want to eat as much anyway.

Wow, blood clots where? I hope you are okay now.

Sometimes I think all the tests they make you go through is part of the blessing of this process. You needed to be treated for your blod clots and probably didn't know.

February, here we come!

I just sarted my 2-week liquid diet today and i'm scheduled for surgery on February 4th. All i read about is how hard these two weeks are/will be and its kind of nerve wrecking. I have read that a lot of people slip up on the two week fast but i am going to give it my all and prey i make it. If i can go two weeks on a liquid diet i will be so proud of myself. I just hate walking around with a growling stomach especially at work and in class. Its really embarassing.

I finish my 6 supervised diet visit on Feb 3rd and from there I will get my surgery date. My doctor makes you do a 2 week pre-op diet on Medifast. He says the reasoning behind the diet is when you are obese your liver tends to carry a large amount of fat in it which can be dangerous for surgery so a 2 week diet will lessen the fat load in the liver and have a safer surgery. I am hoping to be banded the 3rd or 4th week in February. I started this process last September and I am so ready to get this weight loss journey under way.

How quickly do you drop weight after being banded is what I want to know. liquid diet and puree foods have to make you loose a significant amount right?I am 274 lbs and hope to get to a goal weight of 150. That seems so far out of reach, I was in middle school the last time I saw the 150's!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
