Not Lifting over 15 lbs.

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on Dec 28th. Yesterday (Wednesday) was to be my first day back to work. Well I got new snow tires put on my car on Tuesday evening. Got up Wednesday to drive to work and got about 1 mile from my house at 6AM and had a blowout. Clearly a defective tire. I pulled into a parking lot and had to change the tire. So much for not lifting over 15 #s for 4 weeks.

I feel fine and I am sure (hopefully) nothing got damaged as I only jacked the car up just enough so that the lift was only 1/2 inch or so to put the new tire on but what a crappy time to get a blowout 1 week post-op.

Also, I am suprised at how good I feel as I was expecting it to be much worse. It's kinda good to be back to work as I was getting bored at home when I can do very much activity.

I'm sure you'll be fine, as long as you aren't feeling any pain. Sorry to hear about the tire, congrats on being banded!

At my one week, we had the big snow storm and I decided to go back to work (when I knew my supervisor would have been ok with me calling out that day due to the snow because she knew I had surgery) and so I shoveled my car out. Yeah, stupid me, I know. I felt fine and hopefully did not damage, I have been staying lifting under 20 lbs actually because I work as a vet, so I have to lift the animals, but I've just kept it under 20, well as close to it as I can. I have to go for a barium swallow, before I get my first fill in 2.5 weeks, and I guess then I will see if I've done any damage to the band placement.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
