Disappointed ....Sad

Recommended Posts

Hola all, I was banded Oct 3 05 and I went to see my MD on Dec. 20th I did not lose a pound. I thought I had but my scale and the doc's scale did not match. :) So... I did not get a christmas present from My husband my Dad and my sister. I got a present for everyone:phanvan . I was really sad. I cried alot. My husband said he did not forget he just ran out of time WHATEVER... My Dad was waiting for a big check and my sister just said she did not get anyone anything. I have not binged but I have been grazing and eating things I shouldn't. It never fails I am at about 3 mths and this is when all my weight loss attempts shift. It has to be different this time. for MEEEE... I am really sad and feel lonely. i know its not about the presents its about christmas and Joy Love BLAH BLAH BLAH But it still felt like #$%#I don't want to be a baby but boy do I want to lick my woulds with food. I wqant this to work.

I went to an OA meeting a few weeks ago and just my luck one of the first people I me was a lady that the BAND DID NOT WORK for:eek Just what I needed needless to say I did not call her I know this can work I need to make it work. Thanks for listening.

Elda

I'm so sorry Elda. I would have been upset, too. I just know that once you're at a good restriction level, it WILL work for you, too. I was banded just 3 days after you and I hadn't really lost much weight until my first fill (Nov.19). Now things are going much easier for me. They will for you, too. As far as your family - try to focus on yourself right now while your concentrating on losing weight - get a manicure/pedicure, go for a walk, take a bath, the other stuff that always needs to be done will still be there when you're feeling better. Do things for yourself and TRY not to let them bother you with negativity. Keep things positive on your end - it will probably rub off on them, too.

Have you had a fill? If so, when? Maybe it's time for another....

Good luck and {hugs} from me.

I am so sorry to hear that you are having such a rough time. Have you gotten your first fill yet? It doesn't sound like it and if that is the case, then you by no means have any restriction, which is of course how the band works. If you are able to eat alot, then even if you have had a fill, you may need another. It sometimes takes two or three times before we hit the elusive sweet spot. It's not until we get that, does the band really help.

Are you following the bandster diet? Lean meat, then veggies, then good carbs, if there's room. No drinking with your meals, try and wait for at least 30 minutes before drinking so you don't wash all of the food down right away.

I don't think there is anyone here who can't relate to wanting to self medicate our sad feelings with food. I certainly am an emotional eater and suffer greatly from clinical depression. Trust me this can be done. It's not easy, it takes a strong will and commitment to yourself to do the right things and fighting the old habits which have led us to morbid obesity to begin with.

Sounds like you could really use a good support system. Your family doesn't sound all that supportive, given what they did at Christmas.

Do you have any close friends that can help you? If not by all means, this board is full of supportive and compassionate people who would love to support you in this. There's lots of great advise here and laughs and just about anything else you could imagine.

Things will get better, but you can't give up. You've had the surgery, now let's put that band to work for you and with you. You deserve to be healthy and happy, all of us do, so don't sell yourself short.

Happy New Year

Cindy

I'm so sorry you're feeling down. Please don't be too hard on yourself. The wonderful nurse at my doctor's office says that it is very common for people to gain a few pounds after surgery and before their first fill. They told me this when I went in 1 week post op so that I wouldn't worry if it happened to me.

This will work for you because you will make it work. This is a wonderful place to be for support. Hang in there. I'm sending a big HUG your way!

Hey Elda, I'm so very sorry to hear about your disapointing time. (((hugs)))) Trust me when I say I understand some of your pain and frustration.

Since you are not losing weight, it is very important to start looking at other changes in your life that are related to the band. Are you feeling better? Have you lost inches? can you do things that you couldn't before you were banded?

I've lost about 12 pounds since April. Yeah, it sucks, but I have gained back my life. I've gained badk my health. I know there are many days where I a royally pissed off and angry about not losing weight.

I don't know if you've been filled yet or not, but if you haven't been, take heart, most people don't start losing weight until after their first fill.

You must stop the grazing now. You just have to. But you know this already.

Go ahead a pitch a hissy fit. You will feel better, I know I did after I pitched my big fit in July.

Oh, and your husband better come up with something major! Absolutely no excuse for not getting you a Christmas gift, NONE.

Hola amigo, just remember that most of the population GAINS during the Holidays. Consider it victory that you stayed the same, for goodness sakes! And about the present thing, Go out and get yourself something you want then tell them all that you did! Don't skimp either! After all you are worth it, and maybe next year folks will "have enough time". This happened to me a couple of times. Then one year in January I had a heart incident and landed in the Hosp. 11 mo later, everyone remembered me one way or another at Christmas. Sometimes people get complacent about relationships without ever meaning it, try not to think of is as rejection of you but rather they are a tad bit irresponsible! and yea blah, blah, blah, Christmas is a time of remembering and loving and giving. But true Christmas lives in our heart every single day of the year!

Oh, Elda! I am so sorry that happened to you! I understand about the weight loss, I was banded 2 weeks after you and my net loss is six lbs. And your husband should be ashamed of himself! My hubby should be ashamed too. My DH finally went shopping on Christmas Eve and he spent every dime he had. He bought a gift card for his parents and a bunch of Xbox things for himself. I got nothing.:P I bought him a bunch of presents too! It was our first Christmas since we got married... I'm still mad at him!

You have every right to feel the way you do -- that all sux! Do what you can do for you -- try to take hole of the grazing, see if you can get a fill and tell your hubby he's sending you for an mani/pedi next week since he didn't have time to pick you up anything :P It's hard to give alot when you are feeling like you need something. You are a strong woman to be able to do it!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
