I love tacos(!!!) and we have them every couple months. Because I try to eat low carb, I allow myself 1 tostada shell (55 cals and 6 carbs) and I'm usually satisfied. But, if I'm still hungry I'll have a small taco salad.

Life without Mexican food just wouldn't be worth living.

Ohhhh I agree!! I think those Tostada shells are delicious! Nice and crunchy... low cal... low carb... just so satisfying! :P

When my surgeon told me chips and salsa go down real well I knew I was going to be just fine. I have made the taco shells with cheese before and thoough they aren't the same it was still amazing! Now that I'm banded I doubt I can eat more than one taco...making tacos this week.

How did you do with the taco? Just had to know. LOL Having surgery this Tuesday. Keep me posted on the taco .

Oh my, right now you probably feel like you been run over by a truck or have pain in your belly from surgical gas. I hope you are doing well!

I can eat taco shells just fine! Yay! And chips...lol...and crackers. So, I am going to count carbs and limit them to 60 per day. AFTER Saturday...I'm not counting during Christmas dinner or left overs.

We have found Carrol Shelby's chili mix in the box (used to be in a sack) is great for low carbing! We don't add the maza and avoid the carbs. Then I count cheese nips, 13 of them have 8-ish carbs and are perfect for that crunch.

So far so good, let us know how you are feeling!

Hi Second Hand, actually my surgery will be tomorrow. There was another person waiting for approval that got it on Monday which was alright because I was just going to be their place instead if they didn't get it. So my original date was the 23rd so tomorrow is the big day. Thank you for the encouraging words. I never will go back to where I was but its still nice to know that you can get a taste of your past once in awhile. I will keep posting about my progress for sure. LBT is like a part of my life and has given me so much to look forward to. Have a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.

I thought the same thing, that crunchy foods would not be good, I pictured them getting stuck, so I haven't tried.

HOWEVER. My boyfriend is Mexican, and his mother sent homemade tamales, and flour tortillas from California today. OH. MY. GOD. Amazing. I agree, Mexican food is neccesary for life! :) The flour tortilla got a little 'uncomfortable', I realized it and stopped eating it immediately.

I love TACOS!!!! Hard Shells and tostadas are easiest to go down .. I do not tolerate tortillas unless i can rip it apart a little by little. I just don't get soft shells anymore, I miss them but I like losing weight more !!!

Hey, looking good! I can see why you're so excited even after the surgery. I hope I am like that too. So many people are so excited to have the surgery and then don't keep that feeling after. I think we start thinking about food in a different way while we are on the pre diet....We then find new energy and do the things we like to do instead of eating or planning our next meal, like you said you did with a new hobby. Congrats on reversing the diabetes!! I hope to do same for high blood pressure.

HI there all, I'm new to this site and I was banded in June of 2009. I've been out for about 1 and a 1/2 years and have been as high as #277 lbs in my life at 5'11" (large frame I'm told) Am down as low as 196#, now maintaining at about #200 lbs. I guess I should say that I'm stuck there for like a couple of months. Would like to get to 180# if possible. My problem is like all other weight loss programs I hate the nutritional watch dogging of food and tend to stick with what I call safe foods. You know the foods that don't send me to the restrooms. They might not be the best foods but I've learned what works and what dosen't. I will say that every Tues the wife and I go to our little dive place and you guessed it, it's" Taco Tuesday". Two normal sized tacos for $1.50. I'm addicted to them, lol. Like I said I hate counting calories and such but from dealing with diebettes for like about 8 years ( which it totally gone, yea!) I was shocked when I saw that there were 11 carbs per shell. Well maybe I'll eat the fillings and nibble on the shell from now on. Sorry for the long winded reply I just get so excited talking about]all the positive thing this surgery has done for my life. I think there is a photo of my new hobby instead of eating, restoring old coolers and cars. Dougpost-306227-1381313987017_thumb.jpg

Hello Joegar84, loved you discription of you mothers tacos. It;s

Christmas morning bout lunchtime and now I'm jonesn for taco's now, thanks.lol

If you are having troubles getting them or keeping them down I always go back to square one and set a limit how many you are going to eat, listen to your stomach and stop when things seem difficult, put taco down for a couple or minutes and let things pass, and oh yes, chew, chew, chew, I was told like 40 times or more. I have real problems with the soft shells and hard ones no problems. Soft ones seem harder to pass the band and kinda ball up I think. OK time to change topics seeing how all my favorite places are closed for the holiday. Merry Christmasto everyone.Doug

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
