I LOVE Bariatric Eating. When I can't decide what I want to make for dinner, its my goto website for recipes. I also love reading all the blogs that I follow. Its great hearing the experiences of others.

Cast another vote for bariatriceating.com

I also very much like the smaller community at bandedliving.com

I love both www.bariatriceating.com and www.eatingwelllivingthin.wordpress.com. Linda's recipes have been a life saver for me since having surgery.

Youtube is another great resource. I also peek in on www.obesityhelp.com from time to time, although they can get a bit snarky for my liking.

Follow your doctor's instructions. You have to let yourself heal.

Besides this website, what are some other websites that you all love to visit daily for recipes, inspiration, etc?

A word of caution about thinner times - great people, great info, but if you post something that someone finds less than perfect, you will find yourself at the other end of a written warning. it seems way too controlled for me - I left after one of the best and longest posters was flogged for a very neutral comment. I realize that all groups have rules for a good reason (I have moderated and run groups myself) but Thinner Times was in my view over the top and was losing quite a few people when I came over to this group. Just my two cents.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
