Git a surgery date

Wow, so it's been something like over 6 months since I've been back on here. It's been one heck of a ride.

Had to take 3 months of a physician-supervised diet, sleep study, lung function study, the 590-question psych eval, as well as the ekg or two. In the end, my insurance finally gave me the green light. My surgery is scheduled for 1/18/2011.

I'm a very anal-retentive person, and I've read quite a few books on what to expect, but was curious for all of you dudes, as far as what you remember and what I can...nt look forward to.

I've already ditched the soda. It's been about 4 days, and Let me tell you the withdraw is horrible...And no, it's not from Caffeine, because I already can't have that because I take Luvox. I kid with people that as soon as I was born, I started drinking soda..

I just read the thread about shaving before surgery. Glad I saw that, because I had hernia surgery when I was 16, and I NEVER want to have another person shave me again....But I saw that it looks like I will have somebody shave me after all. At least it will be up higher. I'm curious though, Any of you guys get sick (Nausea) after the surgery? When I had my hernia surgery, I got really sick (Dry heaving, etc...) because of the anesthesia. I heard they often give you anti-nausea meds to help prevent this. Did it work for those of you that normally do get sick?

Anything else you guys can think of? I can't wait for me to be able to fit properly in sport seats in the car.

Not a guy but i always get sick with anesthesia so they have the anti-nausea meds ready. For me it works like this, first thing out of my mouth when i wake up is "I'm gonna be sick", take my med, puke & i'm all better. Go figure. One of these times i might just skip the med & get it over quicker. lol

Congrats on the date & good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
