Please Pray!!

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I got my referral to the bariatric surgeon today from my primary doctor and made my consultation for Thursday the 2nd. I'm really anxious though because on my referral it says that my BMI is 38 even though it's really barely 40. My insurance requires it to be 40 for the surgery since I have no comorbities, so I'm praying I get approved for the surgery by my insurance. I'm hoping that since they approved the referral that they will also approve the surgery, but I still need all the prayers I can get from those who believe.

I'm so excited to have the surgery. I've been overweight since I was 6 and weighed 120 pounds in 3rd grade. I wasn't one of those kids you see on Maury or anything, but I was "big boned" and matured a lot faster than most kids my age. I was 5'5" in fifth grade. I've been big my whole life and always wanted to be like everyone else. I'm tired of wearing Large size clothing, wearing body shapers to hide my rolls, and being uncomfortable in a swim suit. I'm ready for a new me.

I love reading everyone's posts and I'm so glad I found this forum. Thanks to all who pray for me, and I'll do the same for you!

I will be praying for both of you. There is a Christian Brandster Thread on here too, you should post there too, we all pray for each other.

I will keep you in prayer..The worrying and waiting was just one hurdle to get through. I know everyone was saying keep praying and prayer will change things. Well I did and it worked out in my favor. I would literally walk around the house and bow my head and say "Lord, please let it be thy will that I will have this surgery" I am just so excited and thankful now, I will keep you ALL IN PRAYER. It's so interesting, cause I wouldn't say I am a "holy-roller," but I now understand that he understands and sees my problems and so I have to take strides to learn more about him and his word, because I owe it to him and myself. Sorry if I have offended anyone, I am just so thankful, I'm actually tearing up!!

(((HUGS))) and prayers! You will do just fine. The info from the surgeon will be accurate on your BMI so if it is 40 then you will be fine. Plus...at my surgeons office I found out I am now an inch shorter than the last time I was measured...he said it happens a lot...which of course increased my BMI.

Keep the faith and keep working at it. Everything will be great.

Thank you everyone for all of the prayers!! I know they're helping! It's so good to know there are people who believe that God uses this as a tool to help us live happier and healthier lives. Our bodies are temples, but hopefully mine will be a small one soon! :)

I had my first consult with the doc today and my BMI was 40.7... barely putting me over the edge! Now I just have the nutritionist appointment and the sleep study, then I'm on my way to get sent off for approval. :) Yay!!

Did you ever think in your life you'd ask God help you weigh more? rolleyes.gif I didn't know the Holy Spirit weighed anything, but then again, He can do anything.

Congratulations! Now that you have your starting BMI it should be OK if you dip below while going through the insurance clearances. At least it was for mine. I asked my doctor what would happen if on surgery day my BMI was below 35, he said he'd personally put rocks in my hospital gown! laugh.gif Then told me that it didn't matter, my approval was based on my starting weight.

Best wishes as you proceed through the journey.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
