Going for ANOTHER unfill and feeling kind of down!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone! I had my first fill with 2 cc.... Then I went back and got a second fill of 1 cc which put me at a total of 3cc. After not being able to keep liquids down my doc took out .5 cc... That was 3 weeks ago and I have no trouble keeping liquids down but I have trouble keeping my meats down.. the only thing i seem to be able to keep is milk and Soups and slider foods. I called back and they are going to have me come in for another slight unfill... I 'm feeling kinda down because everyone seems to have like 6 and 7 CC but yet i have restriction at such a low amount... Does anyone else have restriction at a low amount? Has anyone had to go for TWO unfills?????? Some encouragement would be nice :) I just feel like im doing something wrong! (I bought toddler bowls measuring spoons toddler forks and spoons so I know my amounts and bites are correct)

Thanks again!

I would be excited for restriction period! Keep in mind that everyone's body is different. Some people may have more or less fat around their stomach which affects how tight the band needs to be. Remember the band is just a medical device. It's the living, moving tissue around it that defines how it works!

I got restriction with only 3.2 fill. In the spring I had 5.5, but then around June I could not keep anything down and had reflux all night long. My surgeon removed everything and gradually put back in. In August he put in 1 cc and I had no restriction still. He put in another 3.2, and then I was too tight. I now have 3.2 cc and am just right! As teh other person said, everyone's body is different and reacts differently to fill. Karen(kll724)

The amount of belly fat is a factor, the thickness of the tissue inside the lining of the stomache is factor ... everybody's bodies are different. What matters most is that you have the proper restriction for weight loss. One of the symptoms of needing an unfill is weight gain. Too tight of a fill forces people to eat sliders which you can eat and eat and eat. You definately don't want that! Rest assured, the amount of Fluid it takes for you to have restriction doesn't matter ... what matters is PROPER restriction when it comes to weight loss!

Thanks guys :D You have all made me feel a little better... It seems I have lost weight everywhere but my stomach area so i haven't thought about the fatty tissue putting pressure! Lets hope this next unfill will be my sweet spot !!! Thanks again!

I've had two fills and five unfills (including a complete unfill after my first fill). At 8.5 months post op, I only have 2.25 CC in a 10CC band, and am doing pretty well. I do find I can eat a lot sometimes, but am not vomiting like I used to (which was almost once a day).

That makes me feel ALOT better!!!!! I have 2.5 cc right now and I am think 2.25 will be a lot better... At 2.0 cc I felt I needed a little more restriction but this 2.5 is to much. I am almost 6 months post op. i am vomiting at least once a day now and i really want to stop!!! Thank you so much for making me feel more "Normal" lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
