Calling all Military Spouses

Recommended Posts

My husband is active duty Army and we have prime. I'm 265 and 5'9". We have seven kids(two sets twin, hence the baby fat:) My PCM suggested banding at my last appt. I've been steady at this weight for 5 yrs. WW doesn't work. I have high BP. The MTF here at West Point offers banding. Has anyone had any experience with MTF versus civilian surgeon? I'm ready to go for it, I just don't know which way to go. Thanks!

My husband is active duty Air Force and we have prime. Other than the $250 "program fee" not covered by tricare, everything has been free, including two revisional surgeries (one to remove an infected port, and the other to put a new port in). All my fills, even when done under fluoroscopy, have been free.

I'm a Navy Spouse, living in Australia with Husband and Daughter.

We are due for rotation in a year, has anyone started the process from here before?

Or have any advice on how to go about this whole thing?

ive had issues all my life, and finally hope to have found at least some help with all this.

-there is no jenny craig or weight watchers out here, what have people used as proof of diet?

-i have tricare prime ( remote) for now, with it switching back to tricare prime when we get back stateside,

who do i contact for info on where i can have the procedure done?

- where have you guys had your procedure done?

-what are the steps to getting approved, the tricare site is slightly vague on that?

thank you everyone for the help, i didnt know where to start but hopefully military spouses like

myself can guide this lost dieter through the maze that is military medicine.

I don't know if it would be differant for Retired Army and your location, but I did not have to do the 6 month proof of diet. The nurse at my lapband clinic said Tricare was one of the easiest to get approval. I did not pay for surgery and I only pay $12 for a fill. My surgeon starts with an information seminar that will answer alot of question for you. I think that is what alot of them do. I suggest you find a surgeon and get started. It did take me about 9 Months to get everything done that they required and get a surgery date.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
