November 15 banders group

Recommended Posts

Hi, I wanted to find people who were having surgery on Nov. 15, to inspire, chat and swap war stories. Nov. 1 is day 1 of liquid diet, butI wanted to start the no more coffee process today.

If your surgery is for Nov. 15 jump in an introduce yourself.

It took me almost 1 year of an extensive paper trail, but I finally made it. I have Aneta they are tough. I am excited. I am also worried at the same time. I like to gather as much info as possible so having a Nov. 15 group would be cool.

Thanks

Hi Jenny,

Thanks for writing that is so cool for you. The 16th is pretty close. Yesterday I stopped drinking coffee / caffine. I didnt want the headaches coupled with the pre-op shake stuff. What pre-op plan are you going to be on. Interestingly enough alot of people have a variation. My doc tor told me only Protein shake with milk only. Nothing else, for 2 weeks how about you.

Hi, you'll be fine. I totally understand what your saying I think there's alot of people who have the same feelings. I think if you stick to the plan of what the doctors and nutrician suggests you will do great. I also think alot about it, am I doing the right thing and all the what ifs. You put all this effort into getting this far just keep telling yourself how this will work for you, you and only you will make this happen. My surgery is on the 15. This website is so helpful for the support.

I have a 10 day clear liquid only diet. Pretty much broth, Water, and skim milk. I didn't even think about the caffeine withdrawl. I am worried about not having enough energy. It will be tough but we'll make it through.

Hi Jen,

I only had the caffeine headaches and energy loss for 2 days. I am drinking hot Water with lemon and fresh mint to trick my mind. I also have to be on the Protein shakes for 2 weeks starting Nov.1 no broth just shakes with milk.

Hang in there!

Hi Purple,

Cool, were on the same day. My surgery is at 10 am when yours? I start my Proteins on Nov. 1 as well but I am allowed nothing except Protein shake for 2 weeks nothing else not even coffee. So I started drinking hot Water with lemon and fresh mint to trick my mind. Its not really working but I didn't want the headache plus the shake all at the same time. I had my stress test last week and while I was on the treadmill running when I got off i turned around and the cardiologist was asleep in the chair. Can you believe it, I asked the tech if he does this often she said he had a long night. Anyways, he chipped in if I didnt think your heart was good I wouldn't be sleeping. lol The tests never end just as you say. If you want to chat feel free to private message me anytime I am currently not working at this time healing from an injury so feel free to chat whenever. Where do you live? I'm in LA.

Hi FireChic, That is so funnay about the cardiologist! I have my echo today.l i am so nervous and I do go back and forth about is this the right thing for me..and now it is getting so close. I am 5'2 230 and am lucky enough to have no health problems at the moment so this is more as prevention. I am a social worker and I work two part time jobs, have two children ages 6 and 3 and a husband who is a hard worker at work but when home is like another kid that needs t be taken care of and picked up after. Life is busy and I want weight loss to be a help not a hinderance to my life. I live in new york on long island and I would love to ave you as a band buddy! We can support and compare. PM me anytime also. What shakes have you chosen to go with??? How much Protein were you told to take a day???

Hi, all-

I'm scheduled for Nov. 15th. I haven't started the pre-op diet yet, though. I will start that on the 1st.......and I don't really know what all it entails. I guess I can get the Optifast from the doctor's office. I'm not sure if I can add veggies/lean Protein, etc. Hope so!

Glad to have found this board! It'll be nice to have so many others going through a similar process!

Hi everyone, November 15th for me as well. I start my no fat, low carb, 700 calorie diet on the 1st. My doctors office sells the med fast, shakes etc.. I will eat a small bit 7 times a day. It's going to be tough, but I can do it. I have researched lap-band and gastric bypass for 10 years now. It's about time I did it. I am excited, nervous, scared to death, happy, oh, did I mention excited?? My doctor also has educated me very well on this, so I can do it. I hate throwing up, so no bad things for me. haha. Glad to be part of the November 15 banders.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
