Hello! Newby Here! Surgery was 10/12/10.

Recommended Posts

Hello! I was on the OH website and I still am. But I am having some trouble with a couple of trolls there who are band haters and had revision surgery. So I am looking for a new support site!

I am 34 and just got banded with the LAP-BAND® 10/12/10. I am doing pretty goo. Back to work! Today is my first day on mushies! Happy to be off the liquids!

My start weight was 327. I was down 316 for surgery. I have not gotten on a scale since surgery. Trying to wait till my follow up appt on 10/28/10.

I am a mother and wife. I husband and I celebrated 8 years together on 10/08/10!! I have 2 little boys! One turned 2 TODAY! And the other will be 5 in January.

I am so excited to start this journey! I hope being here I can learn from those ahead of me and help those behind me in this process!

I look forward to getting to know you all!

Angela

Congrats! Welcome to the starting of the new you!

I was banded almost 4 months ago. I am 35 and have 3 kiddos. It's amazing how much better we feel with some weight gone! I actually want to play with the kids and have fun doing it!

Yeah for the mushies! So much better than drinking your food! And good for you on the scale. I too didn't own one, and didn't get on it except for dr appts. I liked to be pleasantly surprised each time, and I was. I did buy a Wii balance board and now weigh myself once a week on it.

Keep up the good work!

I've been progressing every day since joining the forum. It makes me feel better than anything. I hope in the next few months will be nice to talk to me.

You will love it on this site, I promise! So many supporters on here. No "band haters"! I love coming on here...It's my secret when I first get to work in the morning for about 30min. My guilty pleasure! It helps me start off my day on the right foot.

WELCOME!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
