DAY 2 POST OP! Feeling better by the day!

Recommended Posts

Hi all...I am now officially on day 2 of my post op and can now have Protein Shakes and cream Soups. ( But i have no desire to eat at all) My port site has been the most painful of anything..getting up and down etc. But truthfully I feel better by the hour. I think i might even take a slow walk today and enjoy being outside. I Do have one question for you all. i love this site...I really do..but does anyone else get so tired of all the NEGATIVITY?? I mean it just gets to me. Yeah I think we all worry that we will be the one that the band wont work for...and taht we will be slow losers..etc. But thats the chance we take. I will not complain and whine about my band because I am soooo thankful to have it and to be given the chance to finally be who i want to be. Not to say that i wont have questions and some hard times. But I like to remain positive abou things. Maybe I feel good because i am younger and fairly healthy...and I did my research and prepared for the worst.. Good luck to everyone!

Congratulations on getting the band and the great recovery so far! I also had a pretty easy recovery (thank goodness). I did have one or two bad days about four days out (maybe I did too much too soon and had bad nausea) but it went away quickly!

I think it's pretty natural on a site like this to have a good amount of negativity. Even at my surgeon's office, the really successful people aren't hanging around at the support group meetings-- it's mostly the ones who are having difficulty. (I feel guilty, but they don't fit into my schedule, so I'm one of those positive people not showing up!) And just think about in life-- how often do you hear the negative stories about a business or a person vs. how often you hear the good stuff? It's much more common for people to share negative stuff. It is too bad, though.

Fortunately, there are LOTS of people here who are positively thrilled with their bands and their choice to get it! Me included!

Congrats!!!

We are band twins! Oct. 5, right?

Unfortunately, I am feeling pretty sore today, worse than yesterday, actually. Had half a Protein shake and a few sips of apple juice.

I'm still very happy and excited, though, because what's a few days of pain when you're gaining a lifetime of health?

THE BEST OF LUCK TO YOU ON YOUR NEW JOURNEY. I HOPE TO BE BANDED BY DEC. NO LATER THAN JAN 2011 AND COUNTING THE DAYS TO BECOMING A BETTER ME. I TOO AM A POSITIVE PERSON & NEGATIVE PEOPLE JUST DON'T TAKE THE TIME TO WEIGH BOTH SIDES OF A SITUATION. I OVER-POWER THE NEGATIVITY WITH POSITIVE ENERGY.

*****MUCH SUCCESS TO YOU & ALL OF MY NEW LAB-BAND BUDDIES. I'M NOT BANDED YET BUT CONVERSATION, & LISTENING IS ALWAYS THE BEST WAY TO START******

I was banded a week ago, and besides a little soreness left and my visible incisions when I change clothes (lol), I can hardly tell I had it done. You will feel better in no time flat!

I was banded on Sept 30th..I had complications and also caught pnemonia so had to be held until all of the super strong antibiotics were finished.

I was just released from the hospital this am. oct 11. My surgeon has done over 5,000 of these and I am so thankful I had him. He had to go in a 2nd time. Long story was that he was going to make a slight change in the location and if that did not work he was going to remove it. Out of all of his patients he has only had to remove 2 bands. It was looking like I would be a statistic but his orginal idea about moving it worked out and the next day after the 2nd operation I felt great and knew it was going to work. He also said to me that I would probably be one of the few patients that would never need an adjustment. Although it was a negative experience and extremely uncomfortable, the result has been very positive. The day of surgery I weighed 244. Today 11 days later I weigh 222 and can already feel the difference. I guess my advice would be to make sure you have an experienced surgeon. I know its generaly a fairly easy operation, but if there are complications its nice to have a guy who has "seen it all" and could fix it..

I think what you have to remember is that happy people dont have time to sit here as post as much as those people who arent happy. Happy people are out living life, and trying to get the most out of their band. Its like every other website, angry/unhappy people want people to know how bad it is, but happy people dont really spend as much time spreading the word. I havent got my band yet (counting down til November 10th! ) but Im excited about being able to use this tool, especially since I know that if I didnt have insurance I wouldnt have the oppertunity to do this.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
