im getting banded soon and was wondering where most ports are placed....

If you could choose the location of your port would you have chosen a different place?

Is there a bad place for the port?

Did you get to choose where your port is located?

Can you feel your port???

How much weight did you lose before it showed?

I am 5 weeks post op and my port is buried deep within. I can not feel it at all but my surgeon says it is half way between my belly button and sternum. I was not given a choice of where it went.

mine is almost directly to the left of my belly button. about an inch and a half/2 inches to the left of it and half an inch above it.

Mine is right in the front of my chest about a foot above my belly button.

The only time it causes a problem is if I try to sleep on my stomach

Mine is just like harliquinn's... it is about 1 inch above and to the left of my Belly button and YES I can feel it thru the skin. In fact I freaked out my 8 year old niece and sister and law by making them touch it. It feels pretty odd & weird to touch a hard plastic object just under my skin.

It doesn't hurt though... it is just a weird feeling. I am already used to it.

My port is just below and slightly to the left of my sternum. I am very happy with the location. After 103 lbs lost I can not see the port sticking out when I am naked. I am a stomach sleeper and have no problem with that either. I think I would have a problem with the lower port placements because of different pants waistbands. I think normally the surgeon chooses the location depending on their own surgical methods.

My dr does his ports in the left shoulder area, near underarm. Fills are a breeze - I love it!

Mine is to the left of my sternum (about 2 inchess) and is sewn into my stomach muscles. I can see it when I'm naked, but there is no pain. Fills are easy, and I don't have any discomort with them. I always sleep on my left side or my stomach....which I actually was able to do even right after surgery.

im getting banded soon and was wondering where most ports are placed....

My port is about an inch below my bra line just to the left of center.

If you could choose the location of your port would you have chosen a different place?

I don't think so. It's only been a couple months, but no problems yet.

Is there a bad place for the port?

I wouldn't want it at my waist-line where jeans could irritate it.

Did you get to choose where your port is located?

I never thought to ask if I had a choice!

Can you feel your port???

I can feel it if I palpitate my abdomen, but once the post-surgery healing was complete, I don't feel it during the course of normal activities.

How much weight did you lose before it showed?

Can't answer yet!

Mine is about 6 inches to the left and inch above my belly button. I did'nt really have a choice per say but I did want it on the left as I am a right side sleeper. It is pretty deep (to quote the nurse but I think I can feel it when I push on the incision area (I am about 6 weeks out)

My doc is using new tools he told me. My port is in my belly button. I have an innie and it's just at top of it. I am 15dys post op. It freaked me out at 1st cause I was feeling around and felt this lump in belly button area which was sore and figured that had to be it. Doc confirmed so it's 1 less scar. Just have 4 teeny tiny puncture wounds from scopes. Can't sleep on stomach at all it hurts

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
