Thinking About

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. I am thinking about calling my surgeon tomorrow and requesting a slight unfill...I had yet another BP tonight. I was stuck for a while, slimed slimed slimed and then burped up a wad. Nasty but...Relief~~ I ate chicken and I dont know if I didn't chew good enough, I thought I did. It wasn't a huge piece, maybe three ounces. I wasn't eatting fast, or at least I didn't think I was....I think that this last fill that I had, which brought me to 2.25 cc's has been the toughest fill to get use to. I have had it a while now, two months....and the stuck feeling has been more so than usual. My nerves have been bothering me a lot lately too....so in the interest of trying to keep a healthy band, I think Im going to request a slight unfil. My nerves are bothering me and I really dont feel like eatting much....so I dont think there is any danger in my over eatting once I get a slight unfill. And I have been more "aware" of the band. I dont know if this is going to sound nuts, I dont know if anyone else experiences this...I dont know if Im just hyper-aware of it because I really think Im too tight....but I can be laying down or sitting in a chair and I "feel" my band. Does anyone else feel their band. It doesn't have anything to do with eatting or drinking or restricition....but I know its there. Does that make sence? Its not a pain, or discomfort, its just that I know something is there. I dunno..hard to explain. I am very aware of my body. I know if I am growing a hair out of the middle of my back....maybe thats it? I dunno....I just got over my (ahem) monthly visitor...maybe that has something to do with it? Maybe because of all the reports of erosion I am just paranoid?

Okay guys....thanks for being here~~~ I will talk to you later....

I can't do chicken, unless it's been cooked to itsy bitsy pieces in a Soup. Nuggets, grilled, fried, baked, nope, gonna slime every time.

You've done so well in such a short time, it's not like you're on a time schedule, if it will make you feel better not only physically, but emotionally as well, get an adjustment.

For me, I'd probably give it another day with either liquids or very mushy foods and see if I still felt too tight.

Good luck.

Harley Nana...Thanks for your compliments on my accomplishments. I have done pretty good if I may say so myself. I think that I am going to request the unfill cause its been going on for a while now. I thought that it was just me getting use to the fill, but its been like two (plus) months...I think I should be pretty well adjusted to the adjustment by now..... I think that it will make me feel better emotionally and physically soooo I think Im gonna ask for it... Thanks for your feedback....

Talk to you soon~

Porclndoll, I'm going in for a small unfill next week. I'm having the same problems. No PB's, but I burp for an hour after every meal. Heck, I burp for an hour after coffee. I've been afraid to get rid of any fill because I don't want to wake up with no restriction, but it seems like the smart thing to do. I only want .1 or .2 cc's out (I only have 1cc). I hope he can take out that little...

With all of the problems being reported we should play it safe.

good luck on getting an unfill. I went to Dallas last Monday to get an unfil, and my Dr. told me that if you starttaking the Fluid out, you will start gaining the weight back. He told me as long as Water is going through, he would not take any out. He said this is the tough part., and nothing comes out of something easy. So, I left the office knowing that I have to make surten changes to acheive the weight goals that I want. It sounds hard core, but I think he knows what he is doing. I was banded Aug. 24th and I have lost 50 + lbs. So not bad for this short of time. Good luck and stay strong!!!!

I saw my surgeon today and we have come to the conclusion that my sudden case of the "stucks" is primarely because of my stress levels...Yes...Just when you think that your life is normal enough to jump back in....a heeping steaming pile goes floating by. Without getting into tooooo much detail I had a situation arise the other night that was HORRIABLE....Cops were called....cops had guns out....I was up against a wall waiting to be identified.....then I had a MAJOR meltdown on a sidewalk. The issue is ongoing and will be ongoing for a while.....Im not in any legal trouble, but its still an issue that Im going to be involved in for a long time. Soooo because of the stress of my marital situation and now this...the restriction levels are going WAY up. My surgeon and I are going to baby the hell out of my band rather than take fluids out...He thinks by taking out the Fluid I will start to feel more hungry and start to stress eat a lot more, gainning back the weight. I lost 2.5 pounds since my last visit...which was awesome. I made it thru Thanksgiving without gainning. Sooo I know what I must do and that is baby this thing till the stress level comes down. I have not had any acid reflux so that is a major bonus....and I am still loosing weight. I got the impression that my dr wasn't worried about erosion...soooo if hes cool with it....Im cool with it. I totally trust him. I was completely honest with him....and he just wants me to do shakes when the stress levels are up...some salads and fish. He said fish goes thru easier than chicken...sooo Now I am dying for fish, and I dont know how to cook...so I gotta find a resturant with good fish dinners. :( Thanks for listening~ Talk to you soon~

Oh, wow! I hope everything gets resolved soon so that you can have a nice, quiet 2006. Sounds like you need to stock up on some mushies. Stress relievers... Maybe try some yoga or meditation. Give your son lots and lots of hugs. Listen to loud music in a dark room. Above all, feel free to rant all you like on LBT - we're always here for you!

Sorry Joyce, but hell no!

I've been way too tight since before thanksgiving, and today I had an unfill, so I'm back down to 1.5 ccs. They wanted to give my band a rest since I wasn't losing weight at 700 calories. 1.5 pounds in a month of 700 calories a day. If I'd been at that restriction much longer I was going to develop some very bad habbits.

Being too tight doesn't surve any purpose, and can be more damaging than not being tight enough.

It rocks that you've lost so much weight, for for some of us who have other issues beyond calories in-calories out, being too tight won't solve anything but make us miserable.

Okay, DOLLLL!!!! Oh my gawd! are you okay! I still think you need to get a slight unfill since I hate the thought of you having to fight your band on top of everthing. If you are too tight now, I don't see how getting you to a place that isn't too tight is going to make you stress eat or gain weight.

good luck on getting an unfill. I went to Dallas last Monday to get an unfil, and my Dr. told me that if you starttaking the Fluid out, you will start gaining the weight back. He told me as long as Water is going through, he would not take any out. He said this is the tough part., and nothing comes out of something easy. 2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
