This is probably not what you want to hear but I am 7months out and up to 8cc and still don't have the kind of restriction that I see other people post about. I certainly eat less than before! I measure out my 5oz of food and sometimes it satisfies me and other times not so much. I really think (and hope) I am close since I only have a 9cc band!

Of course, everyone is different and I really wish I was one of those people who could have got restriction at 3cc or so.

Best of luck.

I currently have 4 cc's and since I can still swallow pills with no problem I guess I don't have restriction yet.

I'm hoping I get some with my next fill but I know everyone is different on this.

I have been banded for over 7 months and just reached restriction at 9.25cc. It took a long time and even my doctor was wondering if I was lying to her about my diet as I wasn't loosing weight at all. I wouldn't say I am at optimal restriction yet but this is doing the trick for now!! It will come. Be patient!!

I got restricion on my third fill, I think it brought me up to 4cc. It took about 3 months.

I started feeling some restriction around 8-8.5 cc in an 11 cc band; I don't really know where I am now (with good restriction), because I've forgotten to ask for my last 3 fills. But I'm just about 8 months out, and for the last 3 or so months (and fills), I've been toeing the line of restriction---just sort of fine-tuning.

I have been banded for almost 6 months and have had 5 fills. I think that I have 7cc in my band. I still do not have the restriction that others rave about. I can pretty much eat any food that I want, and in the quantities that would make my surgeon scream.

I knew ahead of time that it would be a process to get to restriction....but I am certainly ready to have some help with this!

Everyone is definitely different and maybe you will be one of the lucky ones that reaches restriction with only a couple of fills.

Good luck to you!

8cc in a 14cc band. Took 5 1/2 months to get here and 5 fills. Good luck! You will get there!:smile2:

I have 9.25cc in a 10cc band, and I'm close to restriction, I think. Close enough that I won't ask for another fill, since I'm losing okay. Additionally, my doctor has stated that she'd be very hesitant to fill much more, with how full the band already is.

The only thing keeping me from feeling like I've really achieved restriction is that I never get the full feeling like others have mentioned. I've never gotten to the point where I felt like I just couldn't eat another bite, or else I'd be sick. So if I don't watch it, I can eat a huge plate of food. (My doctor doesn't think I need a fill, she thinks that I'm one of the rare people who lacks nerve sensitivity in the stomach.) I was hoping that the band would help me "police" myself with portions, but I'm doing most of that myself.

I was banded July 27,2010 with a 10cc band and had restriction as soon as I got out of the hospital. I would "pb" if I ate to much or didnt chew food well enough. I just got 3.5cc put in and I have more of a restriction now. But I think that with one more fill I should be at my "sweet spot." My doctor said that I will probably not be able to have to much more put in because my band was already snug around my stomach when they put it in.

I finally got restriction In July (10 months out) Had a fill done under Flouro. I have a 14cc band and I am at 10.5cc. Lost 10 pounds right away. Now at a stand still with vomiting and pb'ing. Think I am too tight.

I don't mean to sound ignorant, but what is "pb"?

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
