Recommended Posts

Hi everyone :bored: I was banded on 8-25-10, had a very rough first week, landed in the er twice....it has gotten better, physically i am feeling better, but emotionally i am struggling. Been feeling kind of down lately and I don't know why  maybe because my friend, food, is no longer there to comfort me...Hope this gets better and easier soon...

Hi Melanie - I'm in Ventura so I am pretty close to you- I was banded in 2004 and have lost and kept off 250 pounds. Yes, your down feeling is probably both post anestehetic and mourning food and is not an unusual response. Feel free to email me, send PM's, reach me on this board, or you may find some additional useful information at Lap Band Support, Lap Band Forums and Information

You are not alone on this journey!

Melanie, I too am new at this I was banded on August 23, 2010. So I also am learning as I go, but I live over the hill in Culver City and work in Los Angeles (downtown). If you need to talk, I am here!

hey everyone thank you for the kind words and support...feeling a little better this week. Like I said, just been very emotional. You don't realize how much time in the day you used to take up just eating, and not only because u were hungry...because u were bored, sad, lonely, upset, even happy. Now that I have all this time on my hands because I am not eating, it is driving me a little crazy...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
