Recommended Posts

I had my surgery scheduled for 20 Sep, but i got a call from the docs office, they said the doc will be gone for the week that I was scheduled. I not suprised when you are dealing with military doc (TDY, deployment, etc), Anyway now my date is 13 Oct. So hey to any October people out there and good luck to you lucky Sep bandsters.:blushing:

Hey there! October is a great month for bandsters! I was banded on October 23, 2008. Sending you best wishes for an easy surgery and lots of success!!

Take lots of before photos now & take your measurements -- you'll want them later!

Hi, macie!

I was also originally scheduled for September, but had to reschedule because of my husband's travel schedule. I wasn't comfortable coming home alone with no one to help out around the house.

So now I'm set for 10/5/10. I'm nervous and excited all at once. How 'bout you?

BTW - thank you to you and your family for your service to our country. I'm a former Army wife and I understand all the hardships you endure.

i know how you feel ihave a husband in the army. he has done 3 deployments and its hard to schudule operations. one year home one year in deployment. good luck on your band date. im agressive i called the dr offices and demand to know what is going on when appointments are cause no one would call me. then they had me doing the calling for codes i was so mad it like that is your job not mine. its aggravating my date was pushed earlier i was suppose to be the 8th now its the 13th.

Thanks, my husband and I are both retired from AF. It is frustrating when you are trying to schedule work around the changes. Hopefully everything will stay the same now.

My son is in the army and is schedule to be in the field for a month beginning October 15. He is my closest family member and is planning on staying with me for a few days afterwards.

I just got approved yesterday, not I am trying to hurry things along so I can have the surgery before he goes.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
