Recommended Posts

I am trying to book my Psychologist appointment (which is required for me) and I not only am I finding it hard to find someone here but the cost is blowing me away! I am of sound mind darnit!

So how much did it cost you or am I the only sucker?! (jk)

How much did your sleep study cost? I need to go ahead and plan for that cost too. My insurance will cover it but I haven't met my deductable (getting closer by the day) yet.

My wallet is hurtin!

Hey! I'm actually a follower of your blog! Love it!!!

Anywhoo, I am getting banded Oct 6th, YAY, and I also need the psych eval and the sleep study (plus what seems like 300 more tests). For the sleep study I only paid $40, which was my co-pay. I was found to have very mild sleep apnea and was given a cpap machine for free (well not really, my insurance covers it and I get to keep it forever...I even get free supplies shipped to me every 3 mths).

As far as the psych eval goes, like you, I cannot find any one that will do it. I keep getting "we don't do that here". The one person that did say she did that wanted to charge me $250 b/c her appts run long and she never claims it to the insurance b/c they don't reimburse her. So, I'm back on the hunt. From what I've heard from various people is that usually it only costs your co-pay....including the report they have to give you.

Hope that help! Good luck with everything.

Maybe I'm off base here, but doesn't your Surgeon's office have a Psych they work with? It's not uncommon for insurance to require a psych eval prior to approval. My surgeon has a resident psych who charges $100, then suggests you continue to attend after surgery...

I paid $10 (co-pay) for psych and did not need a sleep apnea test. I had a sleep apnea test a couple of years ago and they said i had sleep apnea and insurance co. paid for the machine and extras, but i could not get used to sleeping with it so it is in my closet now.

Doesn't your doctors have a team of people or at least a list so that you know which doctors to use.

Hi guys! My Dr gave me a list of 4 psychologists to try! I live about an hour away from all of these guys(or gals) and was hoping to find some one closer. Finding that there are none I started down the list the Doc gave. 2 of them were filled until after Jan 1st. One charges $850 and does not file! I did find one today that seemed like a good fit! She basically worked me in to her schedule according to what I could do, she charges no more then $500 bucks and she will give you all the paper work to file a claim.

I still think that is an insane amount of money!

va-viv..hiya! Thanks for following me! :) I am hoping the sleep study goes like yours! I might have slight sleep apnea and it will be okay if I do! I just want it to be a little cheaper then the psych!

My wallet is hurtin!

My psych evaluation was $276.00! I had to pay out of pocket because my insurance will not cover it. Thank God my insurance covers the lapband but it won't cover anything that is a requirement for the surgery. I also had to pay for 6 months of nutritionist supervised diets. My wallet is hurting too! I hope they don't require a sleep study because I certainly can't afford another expense! I hope all works out for you and that your insurance will cover the things that it is requesting you to do for the surgery.

Hang in there!

Misty

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
