3 months out and no loss

Recommended Posts

I am looking for some advice or maybe even re-assurance that I am not the only one that this has ever happened to! I had surgery in May 2010 and have not lost any weight since. Lost 13 lbs pre-opt - but that is it. I still feel that I can eat almost anything - so I do not think I am at my sweet spot yet, I am active as a mother of 3 young children - but the weight has just stayed the same. I feel discouraged. I see many people have lost a lot of weight - just wondering, did you lose it in the first few months or was it when you hit your sweet spot?

Weight is 223 lbs currently. 5.6 cc's in 10 cc band.

Thanks, Jen

I can't really help as I am only 1 month post-op and haven't had a fill yet. I will say though, that I haven't lost much since my surgery either and also feel like I can eat pretty much anything.

I sat myself down just last night and really took a hard look at what I have been eating since back on solid foods, and realize that I am not making the best choices. (not terrible, but not the best) Just because we feel that we can eat anything, doesn't mean we should be! I am just speaking from my own experience, since you didn't say if you are following a post op diet.

Maybe you should do as I did and really look at what you are eating, and maybe you can make some changes there. Hopefully you will get to your sweet spot sooner than later.

I am looking forward to my first fill Sept 1st!

Good Luck,

Tracy

We were banded the same month and I've lost plenty of weight. Maybe you need to sit down and take some time to examine what you're eating each day and how much exercise you're doing. Count your calories/protein levels and see where you're at.

For me, it was when I hit my perfect fill level - (I'm 6 months out and I've lost 62...20 of those in the past 10 weeks, since reaching my "sweet" spot)

It will get easier once you have restriction. Keep getting your fills and you will get there. I agree- journaling what your eating may really help. I encourage you to start excersising if you haven't already- it does wonders for weight loss.

I feel your disappointment. I am only one week out, but really felt out of control, since I was gaining back my 8lbs lost since pre/post op. I know after researching that 90% of the weightloss comes from reaching the perfect fill for you, but the other part is chosing wisely. Go back to the drawing board and remember what they told you before you banded about eating the small palm size portions of Protein with low carb vegies, 3 times a day and use small portions (1/2 c) of Protein Shakes in between. I finally got hard on myself last night and decided to stop testing the limits and follow that plan and I already feel better today. I am also a mother of 2 and find staying home can really destroy a good nutrition plan, when you feel like cheating, get the kids in the stroller and go for a walk. Good luck to us all! Go get a fill if you can.

I lost more of my weight to date in the first three weeks following surgery. Since then, I didn't really take off weight, however after my second fill, I managed to reduce 4 pounds. I am due for fill #3 next week and am hoping this will help take off more weight. I can totally relate to the frustration as I am somewhat disappointed because I thought it would come off a little faster. I am trying to just concentrate on what I am eating....Hope it gets better soon for you.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
