Waiting for surgery and nervous

Recommended Posts

Hi, i'm scheduled for surgery a week from today and I'm getting really nervous. Have been doing liquids for a week and could eat this desk, but I've lost around 6 lbs, only around a hundred or so to go - ha! I'm in Ca, the big OC, which I never dreamed would one day be relatively 'cool' at all - anyway i'm reading a really good book about this and obsessing and thinking - if no liquids with meals, can I ever eat Soup again?? along with a thousand other things...

I know how you feel. Im scheduled to have my surgery August 27th & i am so looking forward to it too! I went for my Pre Op testing yesterday. I have my appt. with my Anesthesiologist August 26. Today i found out that my WBC was elevated probably due to a Urinary Tract Infection. Im waiting to find out if this will keep me from being able to have my surgery. Im praying it wont affect anything! Im praying girl. I wasnt told to get on a pre diet of any sort. My doctor said i could & it wouldnt hurt but its up to me. I am drinking some of the Protein Drinks. Im sorry you are having to do the diet thing. It is all for the better though. Just think how we are gonna feel in the long run. Good luck to you! Everything will be fine for us both! Keep posting before & after your surgery.

Of course you'll eat Soup again!

I know I had about 2 meltdowns during my pre-op diet. In both meltdowns, I asked myself "what am i thinking, im never gonna throw down on a thanksgiving dinner EVER!" and better yet "i'm never gonna have a buffet again".....

Sounds silly, but in the end I reasoned, well peooople were never meant to eat like that to begin with! I managed to train my mind to think well it's not like i'll never eat those foods again, i'll still be able to taste them, just not overeat!

My nutritionist advised me to avoid soup once i'm fully healed as a permanent source of Meal Replacements. She said they will go right thru my band and not give me a "full" sensation in my pouch. However, she said if you are out at a restaurant and the soup is the best thing on the menu, try and stick to the solids in it and avoid the broth as much as possible so it doesn't wash out the food going into your pouch  hope that helps on the soup issue. again, every nutritionist is different and this is what mine said!

I know I was a wreck the two week sbefore surgery, I couldn't think or focus at work! It's a very exciting time! I am one week out of surgery and just ready to hurry up and be healed so I can start this journey!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
