August 20 :):)

A little more than a week!!! I'm so excited :):)

I really like this forum for low BMI bandsters. It makes me feel better that there are others out there like me getting banded. I can't stand it when people say oh you don't need it or you could just work out. Doesn't that just frustrate y'all?

Hi there! I check this board lots but it doesn't seem anyone has posted here in a while. I wish they would because hearing from others with low bmi's would be great! my bmi is 31 and my surgery is scheduled for 8/26. I alternate from excited beyond words to scared to death. In the end I know it is the right thing for me and am excited. What is your bmi & your goal weight? Just curious. Good luck on your upcoming date:)

I'm excited to see August bandsters with low BMIs. My BMI is 30 and I was banded 8/12. So far, I have had a lot of gas pain and haven't been able to eat or drink much. Hopefully, that's normal. I have a starting weight of 185 and hope to lose about 40 pounds. I weighed this morning and had lost 7 pounds. I didn't have a pre-op diet. Any advice on what to expect would be great. I'm very excited!

@jigglebutt: I know how you feel going from excited to scared. I've had those same emotions! But now I'm just excited to say that this time next week I will have been banded. My BMI is 35. My goal weight is 120. Congrats on having your date set! Keep me posted on your progress :)

@blushingviolet: I hear the gas pains are normal. Yay for your 7 lb loss :) that's a great start! And you as well keep le up to date on your progress!

Good luck to both of you girls in your journey!!

I was banded 8/6. My starting BMI was 37. I lost 13 pounds during the liquid part of the diet. However, since I started mushy foods, I went 4 days without a loss and now I gained a pound. I wonder when I will start losing again. Keep up the good work everybody!

I'm so glad this board has picked up. My BMI is 36. I don't have a date yet. My paperwork is getting submitted to the insurance tomorrow. I really want to get approved, and at the same time so nervous. I've heard that with my insurance once approved I could get the surgery in a few weeks. They do not have many requirements.

Good luck to all who will be banded soon and keep us posted.

Thanks to all who have been banded and letting us know what to expect.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
