August Rush in bandland!

Recommended Posts

Been stuck at 294 for a week  I was so excited that I finally got to a weight starting with a 2, but now i wanna be excited at going in the 280's! lol

Don't get me wrong, i'm ecstatic about being down 70 pounds (50 has been from start of my preop liquids to now and 20 before pre-op liquids.)!

I started a workout regimen yesterday and my husband and i committed ourselves to follow thru with it for the 6 week cycle

I have not had a fill yet since my doctor was pleased with my intial weightloss and i agreed to wait on the fill so i could see how far i could get! I see him in two weeks for a potential first fill which will be a little over 2 months post op!

All in all i'm doing well, but stuck at 294 just for now and hopefully not much longer!!!!!!!!

Hey Yall!

I'm just curious how much you are eating now. I don't mean calories.....I mean volume. My weight has stalled and I'm guessing I'm eating too much. I know I need to start my food journal again. I eat about 1.5 cups of food at a time. Sometimes I feel full and sometimes I don't.

Also, does anyone have port soreness after exercising? I can walk without pain but anything that requires jumping, bouncing, or running leaves me sore for a couple days.

Okay I put this in a separate post also but I changed things up yesterday.

I ate MORE calories than normal, really pushed the Water, stayed away from the salt AND did 30 minutes on the treadmill.

Today I am FINALLY at 199!! So excited! Now I need to work on getting to 180 next.

Congratulations!! I'm jealous!

Hi! My name is Mary and I was banded Aug 12! I have lost 29 lbs! I had my first fill last Mon and had 4 cc. put in!

Hi, Mary! Welcome!

I am eating about a cup per meal. And I do get some port soreness after exercising. It's nothing troublesome. Just twinges.

I get port pain every time I bend over lately, a bad sharp pain. Bathing my kids at night is starting to really kill me.

It's fine if I hold my hand over my port and put pressure against it but if I don't do that then I have major pain just bending over to turn on the Water.

Will that go away soon?

I haven't been posting much lately because I'm experiencing what I guess would be called bandster hell.

I am stuck at the same weight and have even gained a couple back in the last couple of days.

I am very busy now and I know I have to have a stricter regimen and routine.

I'm a little down and depressed about it but I refuse to fully go there. I'm still happy with my band but I haven't been in a good routine for so long I guess it's harder for me than I thought.

Onthego...we were banded the same day. I can't say I have much pain at my port but it does feel like it's not fully healed yet so I'm protective of it. I don't bend over the sink to wash my face as far as I did before and I hold my port. That thing was placed so close to my skin that I'm sure they had to do a good bit to fit it there so I imagine that it will take a while to fully heal.

Amanda maybe roll up a towel to place btwn your port and the tub when you bend over to wash the kidlets in the tub .

I do that if I quickly wash my hair at the sink and I feel no pressure. Have to protect the port.

I know even with my fill I am eating way too much. I think exercise is the only thing that is keeping me from gaining. It does get discouraging.

I am right there with you I haven't been posting a lot cuz I too have been stuck at the same weight and have gained about 2 lbs back, I too feel a little down about it but have decided not to worry too much about the scale and wait till my fill around Oct. 21...Good luck!

I'm sorry that you 2 are having a little rough time too but I'm glad that I'm not alone. I'm feeling like such a failure.

I haven't made the appt for my next fill yet but I guess I should get on it for the last week in October or the first of November.

I just got the EOB from the insurance yesterday. My surgery cost close to 20G and the 1st fill was $340. so I better get on the ball.

Thank goodness for insurance .

MSDV (Dee),

You say your port "is so close to the skin"....can you see it? Mine is obvious! You can see right where it is and it sticks out. I find myself holding pressure on it too and it seems to help with the tenderness. I wonder if I wore something that fit tight during exercise if that would ease the pain...maybe a cami under my shirt.

I have teetered up and down with the same 2-3lbs since mid September and have been really frustrated but I now see that I'm not alone. Girls, we're going to have to kick it up a notch to be in those sexy lil dresses by new years eve!! Today I worked out for 1 1/2 hrs and plan on doing the same tomorrow. Its too bad we all dont live close to one another, I could use a workout buddy!

Good night all and have sweet dreams!

Its funny you say that you feel like yopu paid $5400 for another diet, I jokingly made the comment that I paid $15,000 which equals out to around $800 per lb lost so far! I dont know that over my lifetime that I've spent a total of $15k before the band but I would bet I've definitely spent $5400! Hang in there girl, IT WILL GET BETTER!

I met my goal to lose 50 pounds before Oct 22. That is when we go on vacation. I'm so excited. We are going to see my husbands family in California, and most of them haven't seen me since 2005.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
