I carry all of my weight in my tummy- even when I was a smaller person eons ago that is where I carried it. As I got larger, so did my tummy, sometimes I even looked pregnant. I've now lost 60lbs and a good portion of my midsection has shurunk, but I feel like I'm gonna have the spare tire for forever. I'm 195lbs and 15 more to go until first scale goal, but I wanna shed this stomach. Traditional crunches are very uncomfortable, but is that the only way? Anyone with a similar experience? Please share and tips!

Unfortunately you cant help where your body stores fat.

But the best way to get rid of tummy fat is cardio. NO amount of strengthening the muscles will make any difference at all if there's too much fat. Running, spinning, elliptical, all those high intensity workouts are what you need. And there's some credible evidence that using interval training methods (ie. sprinting all out for 1 min, thens lowing down for 5 kinda thing) burn even MORE fat than steady state.

Personally, I find, contrary to popular exercise gospel, that nothing keeps me as thin as long, steady state cardio - long runs daily of 8kms or more. We're all different, but that works for me better than anything.

I carry my weight in the middle as well and when I had a trainer a few years back she said what Jachut did- focus on the cardio. She also told me not to do any weights except upper body (arms) because from carrying all the fat around my lower body was already pretty built up (she is right my legs are strong as hell). If I had lost a bunch of weight with her (I didn't, I stopped going) she was then going to incorporate more weights to tone my abs and back and such... long story short she said CARDIO CARDIO CARDIO

My family all carry their weight in the middle too. In the past I have dieted down to my current weight but I still had a belly. This time I have used diet and exercise and my belly is almost gone. But I had to burn it off, not walk in the park type of exercise but oh my god I cant breath and I may pass out type of exercise. When I am done my ponytail is even wet from sweat.

Crunches help tone the muscles under your fat layer but you cant see them until the fat layer is gone so I am trying to burn it off first and then I will see if I can tone them into a six pack.

Good luck.

I don't think my insurance will cover a panni. What insurance did you have?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
