Good Morning. I had my surgery yesterday and when dr was in there he also repaired a hiatal hernia.Surgery went well and am alittle sore. Have to sleep with my head up at a 30 degree angle so I am sleeping on the couch so I dont disturb my husbands sleep. Surgery was at 7 am and they finally let me go home about 5pm. Everytime they would take me off my oxegen it would go down to 80 so I had to be put back on it. No gas pain so far. I do have to blow in the thing every 15 min so that I dont get phnemonia. Hope everyone is doing well.

Glad you are home!! Yea I had the oxygen problem and I was told to "blow" as well to get your lungs going. I have had pneumonia before and didn't want that on top of everything else. No gas pains, that is awesome, hope you continue to do well.

Hi Everyone!!! Had my surgery yesterday and it went perfectly!! I was sore as expected the gas-x strips work wonders and i found liquid adult tylenol at Walgreens and i am able to manage the pain with that. My biggest challenge so far is taking my pills(Rx) i have crushed them in water....YUCK!!!!! and tonight I tried to crush them in sugar free jello....double YUCK!!!!!!:smile2::thumbdown: any suggestions on how to crush the Rx and not have to taste the bitterness of it? Hope everyone else is doing well too....:)

I crush mine then mix with a bit of Water, then just chug it. It goes right down. I didn't see the adult Tylenol so I purchased the children's Tylenol and take a tablespoon- cherry flavor too! So glad you are home.

:smile2:I feel so envious of everyone. But I must remember we all heal different. Today is had been two weeks. I drove for the first time to the grocery store. I walked all around the store and did pretty well. But by the time I got to checkout, I was pooped. Customer service brought me a chair while doing checkout. That little rest helped me and I let them take my groceries out to the car for me. Once home, I took one bag at a time inside, then sat on the recliner for a few minutes, sipping Water. Glad I only had 4 bags!! It was a lot harder on me than I thought it would be. I wasn't in good shape before the surgery though. I have been on night shift for six months, and exhausted all the time. Was diagnosed with thyroid disease in June, and now back on that medication. So hopefully my energy levels will improve. I am up to 6 mins on the treadmill. Thanks for all your inspiring tales. You guys are keeping me inspired.

In the hospital I always gave it with a small bite of applesauce or pudding. They still taste bitter no matter what you mix them with!

I know everyone is different and every dr is different but I was banded on 9/22 and outside of some discomfort (yesterday and today were really pretty good I even drove to the grocery store yesterday) I was told to start adding soft foods in within the first couple of days.

So today I had not quite a half of yogurt and I had a Protein Shake - I am just curious as to when others are adding stuff and what you are having? I am terrified of getting sick to my stomach-sometimes I feel like I have a heavy pocket of air sitting at the top of my stomach-I am still passing gas so I hope that ends SOON!

I would just like to hear what others are doing this early!! Thanks so much!

Banded922. I felt the same way about the pocket of air. Felt like I had to burp but nothing would happen. I had a very large hiatal hernia repair at the same time so it was expected. I'm just over three weeks out now and feeling great. Down 29.5 lbs and just started on regular food on Friday. First thing I had was a crunchy club cracker. Amazing how much I missed crunch. Good luck on your journey. I swear it will get better.

Wasn't that yogurt wonderful? I had one week of Clear Liquids, one week of full liquids, and today I started on pureed foods. I tried 1/2 cup of egg beaters and I sliced a string cheese into it, then nuked it. It was awesome and quite filling. Today I went shopping and bought instant mashed potatoes. Hope it's ok to make them without the margarine cause I don't have any. I am eating really slowly. When we out to lunch the other day, I did eat pureed Soup and apple juice at the same time, just to ensure it all went down ok. I was only nauseous one time, when I tried coffee in the hospital. Other than that, I burped for 5 days before I had a toot and a BM. You sound as though you are doing great!!!

Crackers, wow. I think I have a few more weeks before I can have one. You sound wonderful. I burped everywhere for 5 days. So glad you are feeling great!

I see you have tickerfactory and my fitness pal. Which code and where do you put it, so it will show up. I've tried several places and the only place I got it to show up, is my Google home page. I wasn't crazy about unsweetened applesauce but it could be worse...

Day 2 post-op and I am feeling like CRAP! :) I am burping constantly and am finally pooting, but I feel like I have been beaten! My neck and shoulders are so sore! My stomach and port area are so sore! I thought I would be up and about, but not the case! I am taking my pain meds which knock me out, but I just want to get up and move.

My tummy is feeling a little weird.:smile2: It's not hunger pains, but like I have eaten too much sugar? Any ideas? I am on clear liquids - sugar-free Jello, broth, Isopure, G2. I have also drank some coconut Water to get some potassium as my calves were cramping up.

Any ideas are appreciated! Hope all you other September Sweeties are doing GREAT!

I have this too! I don't really feel it so much when I eat or drink, but rather later on. I keep thinking it feels like chest pain, but it doesn't last very long. I think if I could burp a good long one like my husband, I'd feel soooo much better. Are you doing anything to help with this?

Thanks,

Hi Guys,

I was banded on 09/22 and was very nervous but all went well. I ended up staying for two nights at the hospital because I could not keep anything down but finally Thursday night I could keep in the Water and the broth.

I am extremely sore and really can't drink too much because I start feeling very sick. I am on clear liquids and doctor said I could have some Jello and yogurt but I tried and just couldn't. I've had one sugar-free popsicle and that helped. I also need to have one Protein Drink a day and I started today and I'm two hours into it and not even close to finishing it.

Well I hope it get's better and I am so glad I took the rest of the week off from work...

Good Luck to all that are being banded this week and to all that have been banded.....

On a good note: I've lost 9 lbs

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
