Okay ladies I need a partial hysterectomy and...

bladder suspension. Here's the story. I have stress incontinence and dysfunctional uterine bleeding. In May I had uterine ablation but it really hasn't helped so my next step is to have my uterus removed. My Ob/Gyn would like to do it a few weeks after my Lap Band surgery.

I also have stress incontinence. He said I can either get that fixed while he's in there or wait. He said if I lose the excess weight it may go away on it's own.

So here's my question. Right now I'm at my out of pocket max for the year so my medical coverage is at 100% until December 31st.

Would you go ahead with the bladder suspension or wait it out and see if the weight loss would help it? I will say that I got down to 170 once and I still had the incontinence at that weight.

Hi:

I'd do it all at once as long as it doesn't add alot of time to the surgery which would make it add some risk. Did your surgeon how long the additional procedure takes?

I would have it all done at once too. A) recovery and :bolt: you never know if your insurance will need to change for some unforeseen reason. I have had 3 hospital stays this year, and thought that my lap band would be covered at 100% because I had already reached my out of pocket max. My insurance changed in June because of husband's job, and now I have to pay the co-pay and deductible and then reach the out of pocket max again! So frustrating...but thank god for insurance!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
