This happens to me too. It is my signal that i ate too much too fast. When this happens to me i gag myself (i know that sounds bad). I just gag myself until i spit up the last bite or two that i took and they stop. Sometimes ill get them a while after i eat and i think thats if somethings gets stuck passing through the stoma. I bend over and for whatever reason that helps the stuck food pass. I had a hiatal hernia repair at the same time as my band that may have something the do with the hiccups since the diaphram is involved with both the hernia and the hiccups. I recommend slowing done your eating and stopping eating as soon as u first feel pressure or that first hiccup. One more bite will set them painfully off.

I get hiccups and I burp a lot more now that I'm banded. It's not just while eating or after eating. However, I don't recommend gagging yourself though...

I get hiccups when I eat too fast. I think I trap air under the food and it does not have time to come back up before the next bite if I am eating too fast. Once I get them, I have to sit without eating or walk around for a while to let that food settle before I can eat any more. If I am really hungry, it can happen on the first bite or two if I swallow fast so it is not a sign I am full. It is painful.

I often get hiccups when I have the first bite of meat. Other things don't cause them much. They can be embarassing and annoying. They usually don't last over 3 minutes, then pass.

I was wondering what the pain was - so I guess I have been eating to fast. I just got a fill last week and I am not use to having to take teeny bites or taking forever just to eat.

I find I can eat a bit faster after the first bite goes down and is settled. It is the first bite or two for me that make the difference. Once I get get that pain, though, it continues to be tender and I have to eat really slowly the whole meal.

I'm hiccuping like crazy right now because I gulped half a bottle of Water. It's like 100 degrees in my house, I couldn't help myself, but I'm regretting it now. I hiccup a lot more now than ever!

I get them almost every other day. It is my cue drop everything, I've had enough.

They don't last long. Maybe 5 minutes or so.

i get horrible hiccups. like I feel em coming up slowly and they are deep/hard. I dont know why though because I am on all liquids still and theres no way I am eating too much or too fast because I follow the 2 oz every 15 minute rule and i drink slowly and usually am not even able to finish the 2 oz bc the hiccups are just so annoying and painful. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired and was considering maybe that had something to do with it. I hope this isnt a regular thing.

Yes!!! I just had a case of hiccups a few minutes ago. I am still on liquids and was drinking a sip of Water and viola.. Just sipped a few more sips of water and they were gone. I have notice since being banded June 30, 2010 I have had the hiccups alot more lately. I also had a hernia repair.

Same here. They are real loud and hurt like crazy. I am off work for the summer, but am worried about going back and having this problem. It is after every meal. I have discovered I usually don't get them after eating mexican. How weird. Anyone have any suggestions????

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
