Banded 5/20 First Fill 6/29 HELLO

Recommended Posts

Hi there! Well a few days ago I had my first fill and not happy about being back on liquids. ICK~ But it is necessary so I will deal with it.

I can't wait to get back on real foods so that I can see what restriction is like. This is a wild journey and you really have to have your brain wrapped around it. I could tell a couple weeks ago that I could seriously fall back into my bad habits. The band is just a tool...we still have to do the work.

Let me know if you have any questions. So much easier when we stick together. :tt1::frown:

Hang in there marsha!! It's tough to get started with this band! I had mine done on may 18th, and had my first fill on July 1st. My PA put in 3 cc's in my 14 cc band. I get to go in again this Thursday for another 2 cc's. I can't wait, since I have no restriction at all! My surgeon only has us do liquids the day of the fill and then on to soft foods the next day! How long do you need to be on liquids for??

I was banded May 19 and had my first fill July 8. I am feeling hungry again but just trying to stick with it. The Dr. said it would probably take a few fills to get to where I am in the right zone, so just staying positive and really trying to stick to working out to lose the inches!

Hi there,

I was also banded on 5/18 and I have had 2 fills so far (5 ccs in a 14 cc band) and I feel only a little restriction. I can still have a decent size salad or a whole sandwich. I go next week for another fill/appointment. My surgeon wants me to lose 1-2 pounds a week. They will add Fluid if I don't meet that. If I do meet that, then they said they won't add anymore and wait another couple of weeks. I like to feel "full" after only a small amount...although my "small amount" may still be too big for what they want me to have. I am afraid I am going to stretch my pouch...something I have to address with the nutritionist.

Katie,

I wish you much luck. I was banded 5/6 and am heading for my 3rd fill Tuesday. So far it's all me, no restriction. My nut has me on 3 meals of 4oz and one Protein Shake. That's all I get. no Snacks.< /p>

As long as you are following your surgeon or nut's dierctions, you shouldn't be stretching your pouch.

Hope things go well for you.

I went to the doctor yesterday and was up 1 pound. I was the only one who freaked out...he was fine with it. All he said was that I needed an adjustment. He also wanted me to look at the good progress I have made since surgery (30#) and the positive changes I have made to my everyday living by going to the gym and eating better. I felt very supported.

I did ask him again about if I should be weighing my food and he said, "Absolutely not. This is not a diet, its a lifestyle." In a way, I like that he want me to listen more to my body cues. It is 3 meals a day and 1 high Protein snack that they want. This is their tool for success.

Thanks,

Katie

Katie,

It sounds as if your Dr. has it together. Very similar to my program except that I weigh my food and you eat till you are comfortable. I personally don't understand all the different instructions the Dr.s offices have, but as long as we do what our Dr.s say... we're good.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
