Surgery Tomorrow: JUNE 29th! EEEEEKKKK

Recommended Posts

After years of being on the fence, and starting the serious journey in April, tomorrow morning is my surgery.

I'm FREAKING OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not so much concerning the surgery itself, just what happens, oh...for the rest of my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cmon out fellow bandsters and put to rest my fears of the aftermath!!! Will life ever get back to being somewhat normal?!?!? TIA!!!

I kind of felt the same way you do, only a lot more scared of the surgery too.

One of the things that comforted me is how many people there are out there with bands that are so very happy they went through with it. I had the feeling I would be one of those saying my only regret would be that I didn't do it sooner. You know what, thats true!

This band journey is a lot harder than I thought it would be because there's so much "head stuff" to work on but I'm actually glad for the chance to work on my head/emotional issues.

Good luck to you and a speedy recovery!

Trixie

Tomorrow is my surgery as well. Saw the surgeon ( or rather his PA) today. Lost 12.6 lbs on the Optifast two week pre-op! They also told me I could eat today! We joked about hitting the various places for appetizers, Entrees and dessert on the way home! Felt good to eat! Stayed sensible and had a nice lowfat chicken salad! I got home and hospital said to be there at 12:30 pm. The PA gave me some Vitamins as I told her I'm on disability and didn't have the money for the EMEND they wanted me to get or for the vitamins. He charged me a $1000 "administration fee" which I find out after I paid him is non-refundable and not all drs. charge this. She told me they would use a patch instead for the nausea prevention and I could take Flintstones chewables (2) for the vitamins until I get my check next month. Now because I'm on disability, I also get Medicare in the form of Medicare Advantage which is a HMO. I also had a message from the hospital that I have to pay a co-pay tomorrow before being admitted. This is $300 and they will give me a discount of 25%. So "just $225.00". I called my insurance company and they told me they don't know where this figure comes from, it's only $100.00 co-pay. I can't wait to get there tomorrow and see if they'll give me the 25% discount on that $100.00! But the whole point is folks it doesn't matter to them, this whole thing is a racket for more money. But they prey on people that have stood up and taken charge of bettering their health. And I mean the Drs. that perform this and the hospitals. Hospitals have become big businesses and will do anything to make money. It's not about helping people anymore. And that's sad.

Sheeeeet! Read the above and depressed myself! Congratulations to all of us having our surgery tomorrow and Wed. too! As for the nerves, as a retired RN it's normal. They will give you some "happy juice" to counteract that! Except for me! I'll probably be known as the "charity case" bitching about every cent! Anyway Good Luck to us all and see you on the other side!:scared2:

I know, sucks huh!?! Dummy me didn't think about it when I jumped at the surgery date!!! Oh well! Small sacrifice, I suppose! haha

Have fun and please don't tell me how it is!! I'm probably going to drag my arse down there no later than Thursday!! I can't wait much longer!!!! Prrrrr Edward!

Thanks for the kind words everyone!! I'm excited, but still so nervous about the aftermath. The surgery itself will be OK (I've had three others before), but just everything after is what I'm concerned about. I know I'll be OK, eventually!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
