4 years out and the craziest thing is happening,,

Recommended Posts

I am right at four years out to the day,,and have always been called the model band patient,,lost my hundred pounds right off the bat,,the next year got Tummy Tuck for all the skin issues,,and always stayed the same weight give or take 1 to 2 lbs, for the last 2 years. Back in March I was traveling, and either food or something else caused me to have the worst night of nausea and vomiting,,the shakes, and inability to sit up for about 12 hours,,that hard vomiting from the bottom of your tummy, and this is the first time I have done that since my band. I don't know why, but I just felt something had gone crazy inside, but when I got back in town, I called my doc,,talked to the nurse. She said since I was so far out, that I had enough scar tissue to hold it in place,,but since I could eat and drink,,she didn't suspect any trouble. Well,,,,boy can I eat,,,,and eat and eat!!...I stay head hungry all the time,,my stomach growls again after years of not,,and I have gained nearly ten pounds. I felt I should get it xrayed, but she said it didn't sound serious, so I am just waiting it out. I can eat foods I haven't eaten in years, and haven't pb'd but once since the incident,,but my stomach wakes me up at night with pain if I lay on my side very long at a time...

Sorry this is so long, but I need to hear from folks that have had serious vomiting incidents and how it all went after that,,I really am scared to go to the doctor in case I have to lose my band..my insurance won't pay for another one,,any help out there......:):thumbup::cursing:

It does sound as though you could have caused a slip. In some instances a slip means that you cannot eat or drink whilst in others it seems to create an enlarged pouch. I think this may be what has happened to you. I would go and see your Dr. A complete unfill for a couple of weeks may actually help everything to go back into place.

hope it all turns out OK

Everything you have described would suggest a Slip....those are some of the classic signs. An erosion would not be out of the question either, but it is VERY important to have it checked out. Regardless of what it MIGHT be, NONE of what you are describing could be considered normal.

I would insist that your Doctor check it out, in person. DO insist on an Xray.

S.

I agree. You should insist the Dr. see you ASAP. If nothing is wrong, then you will at least know and ease your mind, but everything you just described sounds like something is wrong. Maybe there is a simple fix, but you won't know if you don't go get it looked at.

If your Bariatric won't do it - go to a digestive specialist and share the info - they will do the tests and then cc your bariatric and follow up with a call

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
