Baby Food???

Recommended Posts

I thought we needed a thread dedicated to BABY FOOD! My doctor recommended baby food for your mushy stage. I'm 5 days out of surgery and ready for some mushies so I went to get some baby food. I stood in front of pureed green Beans, sweet potatoes, apples, turkey, mangos, etc and looked like a lost puppy! Seeing that I am 25 and never had children... I have NO idea what baby food actually tastes good  or which tastes like cat throw up :frown:.

What baby food product would you suggest to eat?

(BTW, the chicken and Chicken broth baby food looked like slobber and tasted horrible!)

it was recommended to me as well but i mushed everything to smitherenes instead. From what I remember with my daughter baby food is very saltless - you may need a bit of salt to bump up the flavour.

Yes salt was something the nasty chicken and chicken broth mush needed. Yuck.... I thought that it would give me some Protein but it just gave me a sick feeling in the stomach! :-)

any of the fruits are good my favorite is the hawanian delight and strawberry bannana. I couldnt do any of the veggies. You are just better off cooking your own sweet potatos and mushing them yourself.

Someone suggested to me that I cook my own Protein, fruits and veggies in bulk and use the blender, then fill up ice cube trays to freeze them and then freezer bags to store them. Each cube is exactly 1 ounce. Just pop in the microwave. Hope this helps.

I just bought some baby food the other day for my mushies after my fill. I stuck with fruit but I can't eat a lot of it or gets gross. But just a little bit isn't bad.

i am trying to make my own purees, but am not sure which fruits and veg will work when frozen. I am doing peaches and got a good recipe and it will taste much better than the bought stuff from what all the articles I have read have said.

I am not going to do meat, but oatmeal or rice Cereal can be added and pureed as well.

I like the organic apples and oatmeal. I use flavorless Protein powder called AnyWhey to add 17 grams pf Protein.< /p>

Any body have any more suggestions? I'm 18 days til surgery and trying to be as proactive as possible, since I'm pretty sure I won't want to leave the house for awhile lol.

When I had my tonsils out at 15, my mom made the best mush for me. She took chicken and some green Beans and broth and just blended the crud out of it. And I guarantee it was better than baby food!

As far as baby food goes, the meat is gross. Carrots and sweet potatoes are okay. I think you'd be better of with a Protein you cook the way you like it then blend away.

how about eating adult food (pureed or in a vitamixer)?

you choose the food and whip it to the stage you like.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
