Anyone finishing up their 6 months with Cigna

Recommended Posts

I have Cigna insurance and will have my 7th visit this week with my PCP (for diet). Just wondering if anyone else is going through Cigna. Hoping to get it submitted next week!

I submitted to Cigna on Tuesday, and was told a different story by 10 different people whether or not they had the paperwork, and how long it would take. Finally I got fed up w/ getting so many different answers and then I was transferred to a manager. He is having the doctor fax the paperwork directly to him tomorrow and he will hand it to the nurse, and I will have my answer in 2 business days (!!!!). PERSISTENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never, ever ever take the first answer if you're not happy w/ it. Call them out on any discrepencies in their answers and make sure you take down names and extensions and which department they're from.

My particular Cigna plan doesn't require pre-certification, but does require pre-determination.

My friend with Cigna got approval in a week. I wouldn't hound them to death, sometimes you can make people mad and they might "oops, accidentally covered the papers with this book" or something. Always be nice when calling to inquire.

If you don't hear something in 2 weeks, then I'd call. But it's only been 3 days right?

I have cigna too. I am closing in on finishing up my 6 month thing and can't wait to get my (hopefully) approval and then surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
