Your doctor

Recommended Posts

I want to bring this up, because I am finding that there are some people that feel that if they are with a doctor that is rude and mistreat them, they feel they should stay with that doctor. Lets make something very clear you or your insurance pays the Doctor, they are giving you a service you do not need to put up with rudeness nor should you. Some of these doctors have the God complex and feel that they can say or do anything so you should put up with it! DON'T! YES they are helping you but you are ultimately the one who is helping him/her pay their bills! Now don't get me wrong some Doctors take it personal when we don't loose weight and get upset and that is ok, however, when it comes to you needing your doctor because you are hurting or your uncomfortable the last thing you need is to be told that you can't be seen immediately that you need to wait 2 weeks REALLY??? No you are the customer you are paying you need to demand satisfaction if they don't give it to you, you can go somewhere else. Do your homework find out who the doctor is, just because they have TV commercials does not make the good. Check them out, do your homework, visit their office just go in see how the patients are doing in the waiting room sit ask questions, nothing wrong with that, when you go to buy a car do you buy it without a test drive?

Take Care of you, YOU are the one in control not them! This journey is suppose to be a positive yet a challenging one! Take it one day at a time, love yourself and make sure others are loving you and respecting YOU!

Good Luck on this wonderful, beautiful Journey!

I am fortunate to live in an area where there are several doctors that do banding...and other WL procedures. I went to 2 seminars before i made the decision, then talked to others for their referrals, then made a preliminary visit before committing to my doctor. Let me say, there was nothing inherently "wrong" with the other doctor, but I thought he was wrong for me. A friend has him and listening to her talk about his requirements and protocol makes me glad I looked further afield. My doctor is much more apt to be lenient about types of foods allowed on diets, how much weight to lose, smoking (not that I'm a smoker) etc. Their attitude seems to be...."Well, you're an adult - you control this. We just give advice and support". My friend's doctor is much more controlling...and for some people that is appreciated. But I agree...if you are having issues with your doctor, find another if possible. They are used to this and it's not rude or unforgivable. Unless you are really stuck way out in the boondocks with no others around there will be a doctor for you. And with more and more hospitals getting on board with this surgery, more doctors getting educated, more insurance coverage...well, even in the boonies there will likely be more options in the near future. After the first year even travel is more of an option since fills are less frequent.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
