abdonimal binders after surgery

Recommended Posts

I am having my lapband surgery June 4, 2010. I have heard that abdominal binders might help out right after surgery. Has anyone used them? Can you make any recommendations? Also will wearing one after surgery help with decreasing excess skin during weight loss?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I'm only 2 months post-op, but I'll tell you my feelings on the abdominal band. It was the best thing ever! The first day after surgery I was having a hard time getting up and down. I found I was having to sleep holding onto the pillow they gave me, and when walking I had to press on my abdomen. Wearing the band felt like heaven to me, I could stand up straight and get into a sitting position no problem. I wore it about 4-5 days, then didn't need it anymore.

I doubt it would have any long term benefits though, strictly a comfort issue. But I def recommend! Sharon

Does the surgeon suggest it or did you find out about it and ask for it?

My surgeon hasn't mentioned that as yet....I don't have my surgery until July 15th.

It sounds like a great idea though!

Thank you for the post!

Sharon,

Thank so much! My next question ... I see abdominal binders from $20 (@ Walgreens) on up to $75 + at online stores. What kind did you use?

I just had my teenage son run up to the nearest CVS and pick up whatever they had, which was I think $29.99. Don't remember the brand. It was worth every penny!!! It even helped while sleeping - I didn't realize the stomach muscles used rolling over in bed until that first night . I emailed my doctor before using, and he said no problem.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
