I'm having my surgery thirty minutes after yours at 9, I will be thinking of you. Don't be scared, I've been put to sleep before and been put under the laughing gas several times at the dentist, there is nothing to it, there is no need to worry. I didn't even think to be scared of being put to sleep, I'm scared of the pain I may feel when I wake up and perhaps not being able to eat bread normally after my tummy heals.

Just try not to think about it, that's what I'm doing. I'm going to have my pain meds and my family with me and everything will be fine. I'm thinking about how good the mash potatoes will taste on Tuesday, just try and think about that. *big hug* :)

Hey Sweetie, Have you looked at your Dr? I did. When I decided to get the surgery I wanted someone who was very skilled because they have the best outcomes. I just looked at your profile and then searched google, aol, msn and yahoo, I couldn't find a negative story about your Dr anywhere! Nothing but rave reviews. From everything listed he is an excellent surgeon! Have you asked him if he has ever had anyone die in a lap band surgery? I bet he hasn't. He is listed with the Center for Excellence.

Plus your Mom is encouraging you to have the surgery done. I promise you she is the one person in the world who is most worried about your safety and would never put you at risk.

If all you are worried about is the actual surgery, do it. I did find a study on the internet that proves it is more dangerous NOT to have the surgery than it is to have it.

If you are worried about the life changes that you have to do after the band then that is something else.

It's like a band-aid- pull it off slow and hurt for a long time or rip it off quick. Either way it's going to hurt. I wish you courage- facing your fear and doing whatever anyway.

And it's OK to put off surgery until you're in a better mind-set.

I know it's scary. It's normal to have fears and concerns, but look at this rationally -- the risks associated with this surgery are much less than the risks assoicated with obesity, and you stand to gain so many great things by getting your weight under control.

For me, this was the best decision I could have made for myself. And, the surgery was a breeze. Hang in there. There is a reason you have come this far, and don't let your fears hold you back from finally being able to resolve your weight problem.

Best wishes for your safe and speedy recovery,

Catherine

Is your Mom bringing you in? Tell them the minute you walk in the door to give you sometnig to calm you down.

Your Mom is right, all your health issues are what you should be afraid of!!!! If you back out, you'll never forgive yourself.

Hang in there!! We are all praying for you...

May God Bless You,

Carol D'

Hi Chocolate...Maybe it's not the right time for you. Many people back out and then finally decide at a later time to have the surgery...or not. Sometimes fear is present for a reason...if you have not accepted the negative possibilities that can exist, perhaps more thought is in order. My prayers to you...

Dana,

YOU CAN DO THIS! YOU CAN DO THIS!

as Catherine said---if you were scared of the having the band itself we would perhaps say to think this over or wait.

But you are saying you are scared of going to sleep---which is like giving up control for a few minutes.

Do you ever ride roller coasters or airplanes??

This is the same thing.

You get in....strap yourself in...and give control to the trained professionals.

The seconds before you hit the top of the big hill or befor take off are nerve racking but as soon as it happens you are FLYING HIGH.

You can do this ! You can do this ! You can do this!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
