Can I get an answer PLEASE why do I feel like this???

Recommended Posts

:bored:I had surgery on April 30 and I am now on mushies. But lastnight I had small cottage cheese. This morning I woke up and I had acid in my throat. I am so scared I started crying and haven't stopped. I called my doctor and he wasn't in his office today. Can my lapband slip early??? Is this normal???

Deep Breath!!! Sounds like some reflux. Did you eat cottage cheese preop? If so, what effect did it have on you? I started mushies recently as well and they weren't sitting right with me (especially the ricotta cheese)- So today I went back to puree type foods with some chicken that I chewed until it was almost puree and I feel better.

Thank you for responding I thought I was doing this Thread all wrong. Well no I didn't have a problem eating it. But for some reason I can't use the bathroom at all. Can I take a laxative to get things moving??? I at refried Beans w/red sauce at 10 am and I still feel full. Could it be the red sauce lurking in my throat???

Not sure about the reflux, but I can recommend a taking a stool softener until things start moving again.

Hang in there. Surgery is a big shock to the system, but it will get better.

Didn't your doctor prescribe Prilosec OTC? I had to take it for 3 months post op. I had no reflux in pre op testing and didn't have any problems after either. I hope you are feeling better. I really recommend also staying away from the spicy foods for a few months. I tried the spicy stuff and it didn't sit well in the beginning. But now spicy stuff is great for me. Also, the stool problems drink that Water at least 8 glasses a day I know it is hard, but it will really help. Also, remember your used to going to the bathroom more often. Now you don't eat near as much:-) Hope this helps:smile2: I am one year out today is my 1year BANDiversary.

I didn't potty normally till like a week and a half post op. Get lots of fiber! I wouldn't worry about the acid, i think it's normal.

You feel like this because you just had surgery to place a band around your stomach. Our incisions may be tiny, but there is still a good deal of disruption involved.

Your body is responding to that disruption. What you feel is normal postoperative discomfort.

Give your doctor a call--or check the literature he gave you--to see if he recommends an over-the-counter antacid.

You'll feel so much better---soon!

I took Prilosec OTC for several months just like the other person said. Also, try Surfak, it's a stool softener that was recommended to me after surgery. Stay away from anything spicy for a while, let things get settled first. Relax and good luck.

My Dr recommended Gas Ex to help with the gas pains. And to get the bowels moving again Milk of Magnesia or Miralax The MiraLax is a tasteless powder so you can mix it into any liquid, I put it in my Protein Shakes.< /p>

I didn't have a bm until I got to the mushies stage. I wasn't uncomfortable though. I just had pain from the hernia repair. There should be an emergency # you can call to get ahold of your surgeon. Mine gave me a special cell # reserved just for this. Don't be hesitant to call. You hired him and paid him alot of money. I don't want to tell you what to do cause I am not a doctor.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
