Vomiting and now pain..need some advice

Recommended Posts

Sunday I had a stomach thing going on. I was dry heaving and then fianally threw up some. There was really nothing in my stomach, so it was just mostly stomach acid. Took some anti-nausea meds, and felt better. So today where my band is, is still sore. I can eat and drink and have no acid reflux, but it's really tender. I called my surgeon and he suggested I wait a little bit for it to all calm down, but that if I wanted to I could come in for an upper GI. I am kind of freaking out worried about slippage or that some kind of damage was done. Has anybody experienced this? Should I get the upper GI or wait it out a few days?

chances are you just irritated your pouch where the band is. It's probably a bit swollen right now. I would suggest what your surgeon said and wait a couple of days. If then it doesn't calm down then I would go for the Upper GI but yes it has happened to me. And I'm sure I'm not alone on this.

Sorry you were sick but glad that you are feeling better. Keep us posted and let us know what your outcome of this was.

I definitely would wait. I had the same thing after a band overfill, where I was dry heaving, then actually vomiting. It was sore/tender around my band and in my stomach as a whole for about 3 days, but everything went back to normal.

Hope you're feeling better!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
