I was banded March 29th and had my first post-op and fill yesterday. However, my doctor put a fill in during surgery so technically this is 2nd fill but first one I was awake for. haha!

When I weighed yesterday, I am down 22 pounds from when I came home from the hospital so I'm really happy with that. I want to be down 15 pounds before next fill. LOTS and LOTS of walking when I get home from work and jogging on the treadmill at home. I don't feel comfortable enough jogging outside...think people will think I have lost my mind trying to jog.

Since the first of the year though, I am down 55 pounds.

Keep up the great work...best birthday present I've ever gotten. (I was banded day after my 43rd birthday).

Good luck!

Wow! I was banded 3.12 and am down just 10 pounds. I've been flat with the loss since I went off the post op liquid diet and have had extra 1-2 pound drops post fills. I am getting my third fill tomorrow though and hoping to find restriction. Also need to work on getting in more exercise...

Great job! You guys are motivating.

I was banded 3/15 and had my first fill 4/14, with 3.5CC. I had a bad reaction (too tight I guess), and they emptied the band completely 4/17. I'm going to wait a few weeks to completely recover from it, as I became very weak and dehydrated, as well as allowing my giant fill-related bruise to heal. So far I've lost 41lbs (started at 319), and have over 100 still to go!

Banded 3/4/10 first fill 6ccs on 3/30 and 2nd fill 3 ccs yesterday 4/30. Have a 14cc band. I have lost a total of 22 lbs so far. Hoping this second fill gives me restriction. Keeping fingers and toes crossed!! Have 95 lbs more to lose!!

Holy crap! You go, girl!

I'm down 31lbs and I'm stoked about that. I get my first fill on Friday...I think. I still have a bit of restriction and my surgeon does her fills under fluoro so I guess there's a chance I might not get one. We'll see! :o

Banded March 17, since my pre op diet 2 weeks before surgery, I am down 30 pounds. I have my first fill appt on Monday. Since I started the whole program, I am down 50. I was 280 last summer, and in a 22. I am now in a 16 or 18 depending on the pants. I am now fitting into some pants that I haven't worn in like 3 years!

Hey Everybody, I was banded on 3/15/10. I am down 23.5 pounds since pre-op. I too, will be glad when I can say I'm down 50lbs. I live for that day. I'm trying to set small goals as I go like the 20's by certain date the teens by a certain date, etc. It is great know I'm not alone.

I was banded on 3/1. As of today, I have lost 51 lbs. and I still haven't had a fill yet! When I went into my first monthly followup, I was averaging 4 lbs a week. My doctor was pleased and said that since I was still losing weight, he saw no reason to give me a fill yet. However, the loss is slowing down so I'm pretty sure I'll get my fill on my next appointment. Congrats to everyone on here! I'm glad to hear all the success stories. I'm happy with my weight loss, but I'm even happier with the way I feel. That's more important to me. Have a great day everyone!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
