USED A WHOLE BOX OF TISSUES ON THE RIDE HOME!! 1ST Fill Disaster!!!

Recommended Posts

Thanks again guys for your kind words of encouragement and wisdom! I wish I had a chance to reply to each one of you guys individually, but time does not allow. I am slowly realizing that even if I got stuck 100X's, the lapband was somthing I chose to have and no matter what I just have to role with the bunches.....(but this is easier said than done, trust me!). I am now going to start being more assertive when I get my fills, and I am demanding that they be done under fluroscopy and only by the surgeon. I will also not passively sit by and let them stick me so many times. If they cant get it on the third time, Im outta there! I have even been looking into other doctors and fill clinics in my area. The nurse practitoner was just too rough!!! Im willilng to fight for my life....even at the cost of becoming a human pin cushion again!!! I AM SO DETERMINED TO SUCCEED!!!!!!!!!!! Stay blessed yall!!! Smooocches..........

Gosh sorry to hear you went thur so much pain. I'm reading this thread while sitting in my WL doc office waiting on my first fill. I've made a decision for myself that I will not allow anyone to stick me over 5x(which is 4 to many) after that I'm asking for fluro. Do any of you take any meds before getting filled for the pain?

That's the spirit! Definitely have the doctor fill you under floro - once! Best of luck to you!

While it is noble that you are willing to "roll with the punches", 25 needle sticks had to be very hard to go through. Once, my doc stuck me 8 times + 3 doses of the numbing agent. I was so traumatized that I was shaking as I walked to my car and, I couldn't bring myself to go back for another fill for 6 weeks! (I had been going every 2 weeks).

I am sorry that you had to experience this, but I am glad that you have new strength and are looking to your future success. You will probably be a more assertive patient with any doc you see now. You turned this experience around, congratulations!

All the best to you on your journey.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
