I am glad to hear this. I have gotten one fill and will get another in one week. I have little restriction and can definately eat more than a 1/2 cup of food. Congrats!

Thank you so very much for your post! I am 23 days post-op and feel like I've never been banned. I have been eating everything and anything I want. I have, however, been eating a bit healthier. I am so glad for comment about finding it hard to believe when ppl. say, "I can't eat another bite". I have never had that experience and was hoping for it post-lap band surgery. I am trying to hang in there , even though the scale seems to have gotten stuck. I lost 13 lbs. in the first 6 days post-op, and have been fluctuating 1-2 lbs since with no other significant weight loss. Did you have the same experience? How long since you had your surgery? Total wt. loss? Did you feel hungry shortly after surgery? Thank you for your responses. I truly appreciate it!

Congrats! I am lucky to have restriction on my 2nd fill which was this past tuesday. I was feeling disappointed after my first fill because it felt tight at the time but I went back to eating a decent amount within a few days. This time I can't eat bread, Pasta, drier meats or even take a gas ex in pill form. I don't throw up easily (never have) but did this hiccup/burp thing that almost brought something up. I am not excited about that episode, but am excited to finally have the restriction I had hoped to have initially. I just hope it stays this way for a while. My doctor is so awesome that he did the second fill for free because the first didn't accomplish what I wanted. I got to watch on the x-ray, it was kinda cool. I really dislike the doctors that charge for a fill and then only fill a small amount each time. Must be a nice money-maker for them.

Thank you - this gives me hope, too. I had my surgery 2/23 and lost 13.5 pounds right away. I have not lost a single ounce since then. Seriously, my weight stayed the same down to the tenth of a pound between my post op appt, my first fill on 3/31, and my second fill on 4/20. My second fill supposedly brought me up to 6 cc. I don't feel any different.

I am however, trying to focus on the positives, that I have learned to eat slower and chew a lot better. I know I eat less overall (still not as little as I want, though.) I did have my first stuck episode at work. It was awful. I was eating some sandwich meat and in a hurry because I don't get very much time to sneak a bite or two. Then I was gripping the edge of my desk waiting for it to either come back up or go down... it finally went down so I've remained vomit-free thus far.

I'm ready for May 12th when I get my 3rd fill. In the meantime I'll just be glad the scale isn't going the wrong direction, that I've made strides on Portion Control and using my body's cues to stop eating instead of how much food I have left on the plate. That I did lose 13.5 and not zero. That this is just the beginning, not a short term journey. Good luck everyone!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
